Guest Anonymous Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 As some of you may remember, we are expecting our third APBT at the beginning of November. The breeder is located in California, so we have to make our decision based on pics and the opinion of the breeder himself. We are looking for an awesome show quality dog and we've narrowed our choices down to two (which isn't a big accomplishment since there were only three females to begin with ) Anyway, we'd like to see what some of your opinions are. The breeder chose these two for us saying that they are both awesome dogs and other than the obvious white markings, the only differnce is that the all chocolate has a rounder head. Please help!!!!! Guest Anonymous Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Thanks Sasha! I didn't think it was going to be as hard as it has been. We've been trying to decide since they were born and we need to let the breeder know by the end of the day today! And don't worry...there will be plenty of pics!! :turn-l: Quote
Guest roo Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Ok, looked at pics, i also like one on left, but, try watching them move about, watch back ends going away, fronts when coming towards you, also topline and tail set. good luck, let us know who was that lucky pup  Roo Quote
Guest roo Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Sorry Sash , i did not read it properly.  I would be inclined to ask for side on photos too, but i know there is not much time  I personally would never buy a pup from a photo, i would need to see it, watch it and most important see what sort of personality it had. But then may be thats just me :o Roo Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Thanks to both of you for your opinions and insight. I appreciate all of it. Yes, Roo it is extremely difficult for us and I can see why a lot of people would not buy a dog from pics alone. But we had a very good experience with Lexie (see left) who also came from a breeder in California. I couldn't ask for a better dog. But, we're supposed to talk to the breeder later today and I will ask him about all of the things that you have mentioned in your reply. My brain hurts from thinking about this so much!!! Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 I like the one on the left. the larger head. :) but they are both very nice Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 :) :) when we went to visit Gladis we ended up buying Paddy as well he chose us. We had viewed the litter at three weeks Gladis was the one we wanted. We went back at seven weeks and Paddy wanted us. :) :) :) so we bought them both Quote
corgilady Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 yep....I'm for the left one as well. They're cute!!! :D Quote
Dad4duchess Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 K napisaĆ(a):sorry can't help you ...know nothing about selecting dogs for showing ...and as for my choice not very helpfull either as I would say BUY BOTH!!! YA buy both :D but if I had to chose I'd say the one on the left  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 This is my opinion...They are both beautiful!! the pictures are taken at two different positions for one.. The pup on the right is sitting further back!! What are the chances of the breeder getting a video of both of them and senting it to you? Or some digital cameras will run a 10 sec video feed...?? Just an idea!! I like a good looking dog but I am extremely picking when it comes to temperment and personality..(as I am sure you are)! Pics from the side and back are a great idea Roo but check on the video feed also! Quote
Smooshie Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 I'm late..as usual  ...its Tuesday so you've probably already made your decision...but I just HAD to get my .02 in as well  I know nothing about Pitbulls (conformation-wise),so I'm basing this on personal preference... Of course they are BOTH adorable, but I'm with the majority on liking the one on the left....bigger head...and I love the white markings (especially the toes).I don't know what the trend is for white markings on APBT's but for show Boxers,"flash" is favorable (so I'm a little biased) I can't wait to see more pics of the pup you choose :D Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 :D So wich did ya chose??? :D I AM DYING TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Please tell us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 19, 2002 Posted October 19, 2002 The lucky pup is.....(drum roll please)...............the one on the left(with the bigger head!!!!) :D :D We spoke to the breeder again later that day and he was looking at the pups while he was talking with us and he strongly recommended her. The other pup was beautiful too, but like I said her head was a little more round and her walk wasn't as good. Either way, I'm sure she'll find a great home. I wish I could have taken them both, but for right now three is enough!!! And I'm not too sure if I could handle housebreaking two pups at once :o So, she should be arriving in about two weeks and as soon as we get her we'll take some pics, which I will most definately share with all of you! Thanks so much for all of your feedback! p.s. Her name will be.... STORM of the century. Quote
Smooshie Posted October 19, 2002 Posted October 19, 2002 Congratulations on the new "baby"!!! :D Now that you've decided which one you want, you must be so anxious to pick her up. Ahhh well, two weeks gives ya LOTS of time to puppy-proof the house! I love her name (and I'm sure K will be tickled about it too ). We'll all be anxiously awaiting pics... Quote
