deepseasnake Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 has anybody used or know anything about http://www.operationk9rescue.com/rusty.html they have really good looking dogs on there and they all say "purebred" are they for real or are they just trying to clear dogs out? Quote
Hobbit Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Deep, I've never seen this place, but you are right! There are some really nice looking dogs on there. Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 yeah the more I look the more impressed I am they have like 5 neos! and a whole ton of ABs I've seen dogs on breeder sites that look worse than these going for like 2000$ :o Quote
Smooshie Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Looks like a legitimate rescue organization......they seem to have strict adoption policies, and you're right...the dogs are beautiful. The nice thing about breed rescues is that they usually fully vet, spay/neuter,temperament test and socialize the dog before it is placed for adoption(all included in the adoption fee) and since rescues are normally made up of volunteers who do it only out of love for the dogs, they screen the applicants very well before placement. My boxer is from rescue and I would not hesitate to adopt from them again. He is amazing. This is the pic that Boxer rescue had of him posted on their website... We fell in love with him and drove 6 hrs round trip the next day to pick him up......of course he's gained about 15 lbs of muscle since THAT pic was taken. This is a more recent pic: Quote
Hobbit Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Nice pic's of your boxer, Smooshie. Deep --- ya gonna think about adopting a Neo?? Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 Hobbit, definatly! I am so positive about getting a Neo, but I cant for a few years as their activity level is so much below mine. But a neo will be the dog I die with for SURE!! right now I want an Ab, boxer or Bullboxer or if I found a good Ab/Boxer mix I fear I could not resist, kinda like the Enterprise in a klingon tracking beam Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Just a Q. ARe the "PUre Bred American Bulldogs" APBT's? :D CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 no no no no, much differant but I can see why one could think so, ABs are bigger and taller, and dont have lock jaws, kidding kidding, but yeah they are differant breeds some of the pics on that site are misleading but if you go breeds on this site, well hold on AB APBT maybe that didnt help much, I think ABs are more bulky and a little bit more "smooshed" they are generaly taller to, I think. you will find more healthy ABs in the 130lbs range and healthy APBTs are more like 60-70 this is a "performance" AB, not as smooshed, well nevermind I cant find any good pics, there are 2 types johnson and performance the johnson is a more robust dog with big chest and body. Performance is leaner and meant for work, so the size is less and the their endurance is higher. this is just what I've read so its to the best of MY knowledge Quote
bk_blue Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 Wow- I never realised how different American Bulldogs were to their British counterparts- how muscly are the legs!!! I like the look of the Pit better- they seem a bit more in proportion and the Pit in that photo has really lovely colouring  Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 Oh.... Thanx Deep......I'll look in on the Breed.... :D Hmmmm...I likethe APBT better... Oh and I LOVE THE PIC OF THE APBT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You found it on DOGO.COM GAllery right? Iv'e seen it before and went to thier site....they look like good breeders...don't ya think? :D Anyway.....my point...Cool pic of the APBT!!!!!!! :D Quote
bk_blue Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 I also liked what they said about breeding and responsibility: http://www.operationk9rescue.com/breedinfo.html Scroll down past the photos to read. You have probably read it but I thought it was worth posting anyway. :) Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 2, 2002 Author Posted October 2, 2002 I like the ABs much better, but as you all know I'm all about HUGE dogs. I like that they are big and not very dog agressive. I really want a boxer/AB because I really dont like the color of the ABs and who can resist the boxer attitude? all that white makes me think I'm looking at a bleach victim or something. APBTs are nice, but not big enough for my liking :D now a Neo, thats a gorgeous dog! Quote
Smooshie Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 deepseasnake napisał(a): I really want a boxer/AB because I really dont like the color of the ABs Actually ABs come in a wider variety of accepted colors than Boxers, according to the breed standard : AMERICAN BULLDOG Color: Solid or varying degrees of white, all shades of brindle, brown, red, or tan are acceptable. Solid black, black and tan, and/or any degree of merle is unacceptable. A full black mask is not preferred. **Merle is a dilution of overall body color (black or red) with splotches of darker color giving the effect of "merling" or "marbling" not to be confused with Brindle that gives the effect of "striping". Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 2, 2002 Author Posted October 2, 2002 I've never seen one that was primarily any color but white, I've seen alot of colors in addition to the white but they seem to always have more white than anything else. I really like fawn that is my favorite color on any bully dog and it looks best on boxers. A fawn dog with AB size and build, Boxer face and Boxer personality would be my perfect dog  Quote
Smooshie Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 I know...I was surprised when I read the breed standard that they are available in so many colors!...the ones I've seen have also been primarily white. I was always partial to fawn Boxers with black masks too...and then I ended up with a dark brindle(go figure?) ....and now I really want a reverse Brindle female. I guess I'm just a sucker for smush faces in general :D ...and you're right about the Boxer personality.....,they are the consummate clowns/cuddlebugs/defenders...and their facial expressions are priceless! Hmmmm.....You want a massive dog with a Boxer face and personality huh? Well a Boxer/AB cross or a Bullboxer might be the way to go then....or hey! Have you ever considered a Bullmastiff??? Similar look, but I'm not sure about their personality traits.......or you could just become a Mad Scientist and genetically engineer your own dog.... 8) Quote
Smooshie Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Hey DEEP....check out http://www.templarbulldogs.com/ they have some great looking American Bulldogs (they are performance type though). Take a look at the pics in the "our dogs" section they have some gorgeous fawns...... Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 3, 2002 Author Posted October 3, 2002 yeah, those are great looking dogs! thanx :D I thought about a bullboxer, I guess I still am I just get so distracted by the ABs I just love their look! oh well, I really need is a Neo/AB/Boxer now THAT would be something to see wouldnt it  Quote

deepseasnake Posted October 3, 2002 Author Posted October 3, 2002 HOLY COW! did you see chester on page 2? amazing! I would love that dog, I'll bet they have a verticle leap thats all of 2 inches  Quote
science_doc Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 okay, here comes a question that shows my dog ignorance, but here goes: How many breeds of dogs have brindle as a legitimate color? Quote
Smooshie Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Hmmmm...good question Science_doc. I have no idea, but off the top of my head I can think of Boxers,Cane Corsos,Mastiffs,Great Danes,Bullmastiffs,Bulldogs (british, olde english and american),APBT's,AmStaffs,Bull Terriers,Presas,Greyhounds,Dutch Shepherds,Filas and Neopolitan Mastiffs........but I am pretty positive there are more...especially among the rare Molloser breeds.... Quote
Smooshie Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 :o oops! I forgot Staffordshire Bull Terriers  (sorry K  ) Quote
Smooshie Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 ooooh....also Tosas and Akitas can be brindle....and I think the Alapaho Blue Blood as well...... Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 3, 2002 Author Posted October 3, 2002 I didnt know that brindle neos were an accepted color, I've never seen one only read about brindle ones. but I guess they should be if its out there I cannot get over that chester what an amazing animal! he could take out a grizz  Quote
