Ban the Pit bull???

They should ban certain people from owning Pit Bulls and that would solve alot of problems!! :roll:

If they banned certain people from owning dogs full stop, we and the "vicious dogs" would be a lot better off! All dogs have the potential to be aggressive... as well as loving companions. (but I don't need to convince anyone here do I!)

When will people realise that banning certain breeds won't stop future attacks from dogs? We here in the UK have had strict laws regarding the Pit Bull, Fila Brasiliero, Japanese Tosa. Dogo Argentino (and dogs that have been bred from those dogs). If you were the owner of any of those dogs you had to keep your dog on a lead at all times, have it neutered and have it muzzled. You were also prohibited from breeding from any of those dogs, sell, exchange, advertise, or expose such a dog for sale or, exchange and abandon such a dog of which he is the owner, or, being the owner or for the time being in charge of such a dog, allow it to stray. We have had these laws for 11 years and yet innocent people are still being attacked by dogs, and by not any breed of dog in particular as attacks have occured with all kinds of dogs, Collies, Alsations, Bullmastiffs etc, but people need to realise that they cannot blame the dog's past, nature, history etc as a dog will only do what it has been taught to do by the owner(s).

That still doesn't change the fact that the poll is there... there is no need for such a poll. They should at least let us give reasons WHY they SHOULD stay.
I don't usually vote in things like this, but I feel this is a good cause

I study communications at college ttwic a week and will be doing a presentation on BSL. The introduction to my presentation is a poem. Tell me what you people think of it:

They bring us happiness and so much joy.
Whether they be giant, large, medium or toy.
They are our companion and our best friend.
Who'll be with us until the very end.

Different breeds for different purposes.
So many needs for them to be used.
In some cases the bad temperament surfaces.
Due to poor training and being abused.

"We can't fault the owners the dogs are too blame
It's in their nature to attack and maim"
Typical words the governments cry
Who aren't interested and couldn't care less why.

That some dogs attack because they are mistreated.
Which puts innocent people at risk from attacks
Heavy socialization and obedience should be needed
Which would give them the discipline they lack.

With proper training dogs will behave
No more attacks and people to save.
Dogs will be dogs and they'll always fight.
Just treat them with respect and they won't bite.

I don't think any dogs should be banned!

It's like banning a person for their gender, race, creed, etc.
