Guest Anonymous Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Does anyone know what would cause my pomeranian to have black spots on his body and also start losing hair on those spots? Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 now I dont own a pom but my girlfriend does so does everyother member of her family, and I know they are prone to a skin illness that is what you described, cant remember the name off the top of my head, but I believe the treament for it causes complete hair loss for awhile till the dermas recovers. Malina's cousin Josh's pom has it and she is all bald and has been that way for 6 months, they've been fighting the sickness for at least a year now. no matter what get your dog to the vet because you might catch it early if you wait it could be a very long and expensive battle back to normal Quote
Aroura Posted September 27, 2002 Posted September 27, 2002 They may be hot spots. I can't remember the treatment off the top of my head (and I'm too tired to find info at the moment, had to wake up at 5:30am for a friends champagne breakfast which is over 5 hours earlyer than I'm used to getting up!). Keep them as clean and dry as possible, maybe even clip a little of the hair around it and dab it with a little tea tree oil or something a few times a day to help dry it up. A good diet can also help. On the other hand, if it is something else this could actually create more harm than good, I'd say visit a vet, they'll be able to help you. Then you can write back here and we can let you know if he's ripping you off! It could also be ringworm... lets hope not because thats a bummer to get rid of! :o Quote
