Guest Anonymous Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 three months ago, my two year old maltese had the proheart injection, three days later, he couldn't walk, sit or stand. he couldn't drink or eat, he lay in his wee and excrement, he constantly cried. over the next two weeks he was just skin-and-bone, he had lost over one third his body weight, he was at death's door. i cant begin to tell you the pain and agony endured by us both. he had blood tests, ultra sounds, spinal tap, etc, etc. no abnormalities were ever found and till this very day; my dog is still paralyzed on his left side and can't run or walk properly. he is on medication for the rest of his life how ever short, that may now be. the specialist sent a negative reaction report to fort dodge (the manufacture) fort dodge denied liability. i am going to take civil action against them. BUT I NEED HELP, i need signed affidavits from anyone who believes proheart either injured or killed their dogs. i need all the evidence i can get, i fear they'll hire the best possible defence lawyers, so i need any evidence i can get. if any one can help i'll cover any related expenses and postal charges. also anyone outside australia be warned; fort dodge is using a 12 month injection here (higher dose than the 6 monthly) we've never had the 6 monthly here, we've only had the 12 monthly, this was odviously the one my dog was given. Guest Anonymous Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 thanks k, i read it, it's exactly what i need. where did you find it ? i need to contact mr montgomery Quote
bk_blue Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 So sorry to hear about your dog Hologr@m. I wish I could help you but unfortunately I have no experience with Proheart. Though the company name Fort Dodge(y) is an appropriate moniker   Best of luck. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 thanks bk blue i think fort dodge(y) are as rich as fort knoxy, Quote
bk_blue Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 Ha ha, you're probably right. (at least you still have your sense of humour!) So... 6 mth Proheart injection is not available here (aust)? Only the 12 mth? Though it doesn't matter- I will make sure the vet does not use anything by Proheart on my dog. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 that's correct bk blue, australia has never had the proheart 6 month injection, we've only ever had the pro heart 12 month injection. unlike in america research data in australia is not available to the public, this is my problem, "fort dodge(y) australia" may have 1000's of negative reactions on file (proving my case) but i can't get access to them. however i should point out i doubt that they'd even have 50 negative cases on file because it took me two months of persistence before my dog's case was even brought to their attention, the whole reporting process is flawed and sloopy and i wonder how many cases have gone unreported. this is why i need signed affidavits. bk_blue Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002   Big companies are all the same aren't they! I really wish I could help but haven't had any experience with Proheart... I hope someone out there has and can help keep the bastards honest. (though I doubt you'd look to the Aust Democrats as a good example of how to do things!) Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 bid business seems to be that way ; did you know there's a saying "only the very best and the very worse businesses make it to the top" i'm a legaly (court licenced) and full qualified investigator, i've extensively studied law, yet i'm running into brick walls, so what chance does everyone else have. i've spent hundreds of hours researching my case against fort dodge(y) and i have a very strong prima facie case against them but i don't just want to get them in court, i want to beat them, thats why i need those affidavits. Guest Anonymous Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 Hi! I don't know if ths will help you or not. About 9 months ago I decided to try ProHeart6 on my Cocker Spaniel. She didn't suffer any complications even comparable to your dog's but she did have a reaction. She had also recieved her booster's that day...but she'd never had a reaction to the yearly shots. Her snout swelled to the point that she looked like a Sharpei (no offense to anyone). She vomitted several times, and she became very lethargic. I took her back to the vet, and after a shot of steroids and benadryl for a couple of days...she was fine. I have no doubt though that if I hadn't responded quickly...I would have potentially lost her. By the way...any Sharpei owner's that see this...Your dogs are very cute. I think they are absolutely adorable dogs...but Cocker Spaniels are not supposed to look like them! :D Quote
