Help.

Chin Chin did it again. I don't what else to do to get her to be housetrained. I am now getting her on walks 3 to 4 times a day. (Because for some reason, she now refuses to do her business in the backyard)

Even with all those walks and all the love I can give her, she managed to pee on the little carpet in the bathroom. Twice, once yesterday where right after she had done it, I took her outside and reinterated that outside was for pee. "Pee outside.... Outside Pee..."

I don't know what else to do. When she does it outside, I reward her with a special treat, and praise her. When she does it inside, I just take her outside, try to reinterate that I want her to do her business outside. This time, I waited until she was outside (being ignored by everyone) before I took the carpet to be washed. Again....

I don't what else to do... Any ideas out there?.... I try everything.

Hope you will not misjugde me like last time. I am not cruel with my dog, I really love her but cannot stand for her to do her business inside. Does the fact that she peed twice at the same place mean anything. Other than the fact she is stuborn and refuses to be clean...

Micheline, I really feel for you, it does sound like you are doing many right things, some dogs challenge us to get creative and try other things. Just now I'm due for a meeting with my new boss but will check back later. Does she act fearful in the back yard? Can you perhaps set aside a really long time, like an hour, if need be to just sit out there with her? Take a good book or something? This might work best the first time she is taken out in the morning, she MUST have to pee and perhaps just waiting her out with calm patience will help her decide that the backyard is an ok place to pee again. If she has poo'd in the back, are you keeping it scooped and cleaned up so she doesn't think 'oh my, what a nasty place, I'm not going here!' :D
I check back later, keep the faith!

Micheline:
Does Chin Chin like to go for walks? Does she like to go outside to play?

If so, she may be peeing on the floor in an effort to be taken outside. She has figured out that if she pees outside --- you bring her in and since she wants to be outside or play outside, then she's using the restroom in the house in an effort to be taken out.

Just a thought, dogs are not as dumb as some people think they are. Then on the other hand....some are just not the brightest star in the sky.

If you are using a carpet cleaner machine (that uses hot water) --- you may be doing more to set the stain and smell because hot water will do this and the smell will come back with a vengenance. If the smell is in the pad (underneath) the carpet --- there is NO way to get the smell out except pull up the carpet, take the old pad out and put new in its place. She can still smell the spot where she peed, that is why she's still peeing there.

Just curious and you dont' have to answer this ..... but her not wanting to go to the back yard: think of anything unpleasant that may have occured in the backyard. Did you ever take her to the backyard to use the restroom and since she was taking so long, you became impatient, yelled at her, scolded her, jerked her, or anything else that may have made her think that being in the backyard was unpleasant?

In another post, which was very long, I gave some ideas on getting a pup used to the backyard. Have you tried this?

Time for a quickie, (new boss doesn't approve of surfing at work...IMAGINE!)
Perhaps if you buy a small pack of puppy pee pads, put a pad down in the spot where she last peed. Pretty much know she will pee in the house at least once more right? :D If she pees on the pad, save it! Don't throw it away! Next time you take her outside, take the pad too. With luck and good karma she'll pee on the pad again. Immediately flip pad over and press pee into ground! Transfer scent to the ground where you want her to pee. Praise praise!
OK, ya'll stop laughing now that aint nice!! :P
I know it's farfetched, I really don't know yet what else to suggest.

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I will try them. (Well, maybe not the squatting K.  I don't think my family would understand that one)

I know I need more patience, but patience has never been one of my virtues, not even with my children. I hope she clicks real soon. I am running out of ideas and patience.

Yes, she loves going for walks. When she sees me take out the collar for outside, she jumps all over the place. What I do then is put the collar on, take the special treats and a plastic bag. Before I open the door, I take her small paws and scratch on the door saying outside. (hoping she will catch on and scratch the door too when she needs to go) up to now, nothing.

I know, patience patience :o :o :o
