Guest Anonymous Posted September 22, 2002 Posted September 22, 2002 What can be done to stop breeders-especially puppy mills? What about the dumping of pets? Would requiring microchips in all kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs help? They could then be traced to the breeder and owner. Breeders and/or owners of pets in shelters or left on the road could face large fines, jail, etc. A breeding limit of one litter every two-three years per person/family? I think that's extremely fair for both sides. It would help wouldn't it? Of course, breeders would scream. All I know is the people who could crack down, won't crack down-which is totally unacceptable. Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted September 24, 2002 Posted September 24, 2002 In short, I think the solution to the problem is to stop the cycle of supply and demand. If John Q. Public didn't want backyard bred and mill puppies, there would be no demand, therefore no supply. More legislation regarding microchips and litter limits will only serve to keep honest people honest. Unfortunately, you can't legislate common sense and plain ol' ethics. Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted October 13, 2002 Posted October 13, 2002 the sort of person who dumps puppies would not bother to mirco-chip even if it was law  Quote
julie45 Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 these sort of people wouldnt microchip ect because they are not intrested in the dogs, pups. i just wonder how they sleep at night after doing such a thing. some of the trouble is people have pups they grow up they are left to wonder have pups.them the owners cant be resonpable about it.them there are breeds that just breed for money i dont think any law about this would stop them. i think all pups that are brought for pets and not breeding should be neutered.but not every one can afford that.
