Guest Anonymous Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 We were given a 11 month old male white siberian husky. We only have the dog about 1 week. The dog is neutered and is currently in obdience training. The dog listens well on the leash to all commands, off the lease he is out of controll. My question is are these dogs agreesive? I have a 12 year old female minature dashound. She has snipped at him quite a few times. He has never bite her, but he does pounce down and put the dog between his two front paws. He has also grawled at me when I was petting him when he was laying down. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 It all depends on who you talk to... With him being in obedience training I would see how that goes. Off the leash is he running as in letting of energy? These dogs have LOTS of energy!!! They love to run. Huskys are also very intelligent and pick up extremely fast but along with that they are head strong!! :D Another thing is these dogs are pack dogs and you have to make yourself the leader through training and teaching him how to behave. Correct him when he does wrong. Go through doors before he does. Put your hand on his muzzle and let it lay there for 10 seconds. All of these things show leadership to a dog.. So does putting their food in your mouth first then handing it to them!(If you want to do that!!) Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 Most Husky experts will tell you never to let a Siberian off it's lead, as their insticts to run and chase is too strong. Apparantly many Huskies are hit by cars after being let off their lead. They also like to escape from their owners yards and roam, so be careful. Quote
ShadyLady Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 Maybe you should ask your instructor advice on this one as not being able to see the dog makes it very hard for any of us to give advice and it is important you know what your dogs personality is  Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 yeah those dogs will fight to all hell to be free. all of our huskies needed to have ALOT of space to be in almost like a horse. I wouldn't be all that suprised if this had something to do with your problems Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 Koolie I was thinking the same thing??!! The obedience instructor should be able to offer you more advice..Ask to stay after class and let him/her observe your dog off leash..I thing this will help tremendously! Quote

That pouncing on the Dachshund is very dangerous for her as their backs are not the kind that can take much of that. Quote
