Guest Anonymous Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 I just don't get it. How can people sit, watch and enjoy this so-called sport? Do they actually think it's fun to sit and watch dogs rip each other to shreds, and knowing that some of those dogs will eventually have to be destroyed due to their horrfifc wounds. People who participate in these events even the so called spectators should be either banned from keeping animals, fined or better still sent to prison. To me it's like an adult being cruel to a child but obviously the child can't fight back and sometimes the wounds are so appaling on the child that sometimes the child dies, and then the abuser gets sent to prison for so long. Why can't people who do this to animals be treated the same? Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 yeah its a pretty sick part of humans, the same with cock fights disgusting :x Quote

Why can't people who do this to animals be treated the same? It makes them feel good :-? They won't fight for themselves, so they find a dog that can do it for them. Then they can brag about it and it makes them feel good. In all the US states, dog fighting is a felony crime, but a person can only be charged if caught fighting dogs. In some states, possesion of fighting dogs is illegal (I think it's a misdemeanor), in some, it's legal to posess(sp?) dogs used in fights. In most states, spectating a dog fight is a misdemeanor. Dogs are considered property in court, so I guess it's kind of hard for the judges/lawmakers to decide what constitutes abuse/neglect. Even then, the people have to be caught actually commiting the crime in order to be charged. Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 it would be nice if one day when I'm worth 5 million, I could formulate a national dog fight task force to travel state to state and video/photograph these people in the act. I figure a full time staff of 5 could be a good start. all of which would then shut the video camera off and place everyone there under citizen arrest :D Quote
gooeydog Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Most people who are really serious about fighting dogs are pretty good at avoiding being caught. They don't let many people into their "circles". I think that's part of the reason so few people are caught (the other reason is that dog fighting isn't a real high priority for the police when there's so much other crime). Quote
Hobbit Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Mei-Mei napisał(a):Deep, About the Mastino (one of my favorite breeds) most of them are gentle as pie but excellent dog guards. They also provide a strong visual deterrent which is very helpful in keeping the baddies away from your door. Who in their right mind would approach a Mastino and his owner with violent intent? :o A person with a gun......a loaded gun......with the intentions of doing bodily harm. Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 ya know hobbit you have a good point there.....have I told you guys about the Caracal Im gonna get? that fila site was very interesting I havent read very much about those dogs, do know of any other sites like that in relation to any of the moloser breeds? preferably the older war like breeds I was speaking about? Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 serious about the Caracal thing by the way here is a couple pics, and if you want the breeders site URL I'll put it up as soon as I can find his dang card :-? I borrowed these from http://www.juliesjungle.com Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 :o Youre gonna get a CARCAL?????????? :D COOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But where you gonna put it? Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 some max out as little as 50 pounds some are bred to be bigger but 50-60 is what I'm aiming for. I wont get one for some time as the breeders I talk to say, "you dont want a Caracal, its like having a 2 year old for 20 years" So its a 24/7/365 thing but about the time I get one of these bad boys is about the same time I get my Mastino. I will keep him in the house while I'm home, neutered so he wont "mark" me or the furniture. When I step out an enclosure thats 14x25x6 or 7 will do fine. They can jump an amazing 8 feet straight up :o so I must have a top. but I have a little blue print like sketch of exactly what the enclosure looks like, and it freakin Coool 8) Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 nice cats but i do not like there ears Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 yeah but I love the color, and the more I see them the more the ears are growing on me :D Quote
avaloniaboerboele Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Translated literaly from afrikaans we call them Redcat in SA. They are also called Lynx. And their ears are their most beautifull body part:-? :-? They are allmost extinct because they are thought tot be vermon because of killing farmers young cattle and sheep. Their temperament is very dominant. fighting fit and solitary - a male would be the wrong choise, even if newtered. Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 the cats are much differant over here, they have been bottle raised for generations and generations. They are the most common of exotic cats in america. you point is a good one although much tamer than the african "sand cats" (thats what I've read they are called) they still are very dominant and energetic. I've not 100% deicided on a sex yet :-? but they mostly live in houses and sleep in the same bed as their owners Quote

Personally, I think they should have been left where they belong....in the wild. Just my opinion. Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted September 27, 2002 Posted September 27, 2002 :D Right about the ears...that's the best part about'em AND those eyes....So staring.... :D Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 27, 2002 Posted September 27, 2002 well hobbit Ive been battling with this question myself for quite sometime now. I feel like Ava said in their home they are varments, here they are exotic majestic creatures. So even though I'm not totaly at home with the idea of taking them out of the wild, I do want them to live and I feel if I own one and take excellant care of it and do my best to make it happy it will stay alive in a good loving home, where in the wild most are doomed to die at the hands of a farmer or someone else out to make a rug, just my opinion though, I can TOTALLY see where you are coming from Quote
