Micheline099 Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 :-? I had a problem with my dog. Since this is the first dog I ever had and I love her a lot, I tought I could turn to this forum for advise. After all, you all are dog owners and should or at least I tought you would know more about dogs (maybe you do and it is about people that you don't know a thing about) I love my dog, I love the fact that she follows me and I am no longer alone. I just don't want to hurt her and because she follows me like she does, I came really close to hurting her a few times. (I way 210 pounds and she is barely 7. If I inadvertdly step on her, I could really hurt her. After reading that, most of you game me hell. You are a buinch of inconsiderate people who cannot see the human side of anything. My dog is not mistreated, she is spoiled and I want to keep it that way. I tought that you might give me tricks so that I can protect her. Instead, most of you chose to give me hell and make it sound as if she was the most mistreated dog around. SHE IS NOT MISTREATED AND I WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. Thank you for nothing. I will try to get my help from someone who really cares and can read...... BTW MY DOG IS 7 MONTHS OLD. NOT JUST 8 WEEKS. From a dog lover WHO LIKES HUMANS TOO.[/b] Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Michelle I came in late on this conversation... I think that one thing that would have helped it out would have been to first state your dogs age, the schedule you have it on for food and potty time, and then go from there... This may sound dumb but have tried a collar with a bell attached to it?? My mother-in-law has a poodle who is the same way and it wears a collar with a bell so she hears it therefore she doesn't accidently step on it!! Another option along with this would be obedience training. That way you tell her to sit and stay if you went into the kitchen to cook and you would not have to worry about hurting her if you turned around. Otherwise she is behaving normally. Quick question did you purchase her from a breeder or shelter? This would give insight to her behavior a little! Generally smaller breeds are harder to house train.. I would check for all infections with the vet though just to be safe. If you set her on a schedule and stick with it no matter what you will find that problems tend to go away but just take time. Quote
Micheline099 Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 Thank you, I will try the bell. My dog is 7 months old as of September 5th. She is feed in the morning after her first pee. Potty time: Out (in the yard) as soon as I get up. Anywhere between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. Then she is feed and we play with her until around 7:00 7:30 a.m. then I take her to the yard again for her poo about 15 min. She sometimes does not poo. (Then it is in the crate until around 11:00 11:30) She sleeps most of the time from 8:00 to 11:00 anyway, so I don't feel guilty letting her in her crate. I then take her out for a walk. About 30 to 40 minutes. After that she drinks and goes back to sleep in the crate. We go for another walk and play in the p.m. She watches TV with me and sometimes goes to sleep in my arms. Maybe this will inform you all better and thus you might be able to give more tips on how to avoid misapps. As you can see, my dog is not mistreated and I do love her very much. It is just I need for her to do her business outside and need not to step on her and hurt her. Quote
Micheline099 Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 Forgot to mention, I already went to the vet and she does not have an infection. BTW: She is scheduled to be operated on (not to have babies) next Tuesday, anything I should know about? Especially the things the vet will not tell you. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Does she use the bathroom in the crate at all? When you take her out to potty do you walk her around or go to one general area? Spaying can cause incontinence problems but is not that common.. Other than that she should do just fine! Quote

Micheline099 Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 Thank you for your suggestions, I feel a bit better now. You guys had me crying (I was under the impression that you all tought I was mistreating Chin Chin) I would never do that. She is just beside me watching me type my answers. LOL.... In answer to your question K, a doggy door is quite impossible. I live in Canada and the winters are ferocious around here. That is another reason I want Chin Chin to be potty trained before the winter. I would like for her to be able to go asap so that she wont be too cold outside while she does her business. Quote
Micheline099 Posted September 14, 2002 Author Posted September 14, 2002 Up to this e-mail mei mei I was fine. Well at least a bit better. I am sure even you (whom I don't know but to me seems to think she knows everything about humans. Maybe I am wrong at least, I hope I am wrong. If you feel bad about something, why not write to them or at the very least ask before trying to insult and hurt them. Things would go a lot better around the world if people acted kinder and did not jump to conclusions all the time. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ASK Plus, like the people I talked about this around my place. If I was mistreating dogs like you seemed to imply, I would not have came to this site for advise, I would just have gone on mistreating/getting rid of my dog. Just the fact that I was asking for advise, is proof that I needed help not insults. STILL HURTING. But I don't think you would care because I am not a dog. Micheline Quote

Micheline099 Posted September 14, 2002 Author Posted September 14, 2002 I know Imjstadog that not all of you are like this. That is why I am still on this website. The help that the others gave me should be quite helpful. I am trying the leash and will go and buy a bell tomorrow. Thank you to those who care, and a wish a bit more compasion to those who don't care. You seem a nice and understanding person Imjstadog. (Even if your writing is sometimes difficult to read  ) must be the big paws..... Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 Im rorry! I rill try to type retter from now ron! Quote
usmcbyrd Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 I will definately defend you mei-mei. im sorry and do not mean to come off wrong but i think your attacks on mei-mei are unwarranted and seem to be rude. I sit here and read her posts trying to figure out how you think she is being rude and after reading them 4 times I still cant figure out where you are coming from. again im not trying to be too rude to you, but just watch the toes you step on. when you are on this site rest assured that the people here are the kindest, most helpful people you will meet. i will not say im some scholar or something but i can figure out that she was only trying to help, not trying to hurt. and as far as not knowing how to treat humans she and the rest have always tried to help with everything, even non-dog related things. so just be aware of the things you write, and if you need to before you jump to conclusions just ask the person what they meant before you accuse them of attacking you. Hobbit Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 Mei Mei -- I will speak in your defense. I re-read your posts and they don't sound insulting at all. Some people have different definations for different words -- like MOSTLY to me means: just short of ALL THE TIME. Micheline: You are right, a person should not jump to conclusions and judge another person based on their conclusion. BUT, you also jumped to conclusions when you said that some people "implied" that you were abusive and the following about Mei Mei: Up to this e-mail mei mei I was fine. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ASK You are jumping to conclusions, too. A person jumps to conclusions when they are not given all the facts. Without all the facts, a person tends to, or feels the need to, fill in the empty blanks (it's just human nature). My defination of the word "MOSTLY", that you used, was that she was kept in a crate "MOST OF THE TIME", meaning; without being redundant :o , "most of the time". I don't know any other way to state it, other than "just short of ALL the time". "MOSTLY" is surely not, "SOME" of the time and is quite a bit longer than "A LITTLE WHILE". Quote
Micheline099 Posted September 14, 2002 Author Posted September 14, 2002 I am sorry, I don't want to offend anyone. I am very hurt. I see that everyone sticks together and I feel like I don't have a chance nor the capacity to explain my side. Don't worry, If that is what you all want, I will leave the site and probably never return. Too bad, because this looks like a nice site but I don't feel welcomed. I don't want to hurt anyone, Just want the people to know that they have hurt me deeply. I am not a bad person, I was just misjudged and yes as per usmcbyrd and Hobbit, I did the same thing and jumped to conclusions too. Sorry for that. I am still hurt but don't want to hurt others. Quote
usmcbyrd Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 you are more than welcomed here ALWAYS. just dont accuse people of jumping to conclusions while you are jumping to conclusions yourself. and please quit reminding people that you are hurt (not to be rude but get over it). everyone here will be very kind to you if you are kind to them. otherwise we become very defensive if someone attacks one of the family. Guest roo Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 I answered your post ( the original one) on the 10th sept. I asked you...... how old the puppy was How loong you had had it for if you had contacted the breeder. None of these questions were answered untill this new topic. We are here to try and help. Yes you may feel hurt, but and a big but. I asked you these questions. We can only assume, when no answers come readily. I must say Mei Mei was not offensive at all. Maybe what i said offended you. We are all trying to help, we all love dogs, we would not be here if we didn't. I what i said to you was offensive, that the truth hurts was one thing i said. that is me i call a spade a spade ( i do not mean colour here) We will help you in any way we can.... As you say you have never had a dog before, i urge you to contact the breeder, talk to her or him about it also. all the best Roo Quote
