Guest Anonymous Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 Is this my imagination, or does this breed of dog look like Abusser's dog?? what do you guys think? It's a Fila Brasileiro. Now imagine if this dog was crossed with a Dane.....hum..... Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 DUDE, I heard so much about those dogs, they are awsome! yeah it looks just like abussers.......hmm Quote
corgilady Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 Wow....what a gorgeous dog! Yep it looks a lot like Abusser's....but I thought I could see the great dane in his too. Does this breed have an agressive or headstrong personality? Corgilady Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 Lots of dane mixes look similar to this - the danes and mastiffs are all members of the same 'family'. After all danes were developed from mastiff type dogs strong enough to hold a wild boar and greyhound types fast enough to catch one and ridgebacks have dane in their background so a cross of dane and ridgeback (and was their rottie in there too another mastiffy breed) could easily have a similar look to the Fila a breed developed from a similar background of mastiffy breeds. deepseasnake Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 I heard they are alot like the Dogo/Presa in temperment, so if thats true than yes they natural guard/fighting dogs. although I'm still not convinced the Presa was a bred fighter Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 You know Abusser said her dog has some loose skin and droopy lips. So, from that I was thinking more on the lines of Fila/Mastiff/Dane cross. She says he's Rotty/Dane --- but he sure looks like he has something else in there. He is a very lovely color. Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 do danes come in a brindle like that? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 I did not see the Rottie in Abusser dog... Also Deep I am not sure if Danes come in that color of brindle?.. I have seen them in several colors but not that one.... :-? Quote
deepseasnake Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 what is " :-? Harlequin :-? " in referance to anything? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 6, 2002 Posted September 6, 2002 the "harlequin" coloring of a dane is black and white. there are two different black and white colorations....cannot remember the name of the second one. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 7, 2002 Posted September 7, 2002 Please be careful with acquiring a Fila. Know everything about the breed. It is definitely not a breed for everyone, and there are some "so called" breeders out there that also no nothing of the breed. I was at a dog show where Filas were being shown, and loving Molosser breeds, I was immediately attracted to them. They were the only breed there where the judge did not give a "hands on examination". There was a 4 mo. old puppy there, and a child about 6 or 7 went up to pet it, and it viciously growled and lunged for the child. Only special people with specific reasons should own them, and they should only come from people who show their dogs in conformation and breed for temperment, not from a backyard breeder. It's my understanding that Harlequin Great Danes are white with black markings (small and/or large). The Boston Great Danes are black with some white markings. Quote
Guest roo Posted September 7, 2002 Posted September 7, 2002 Harlequin. White background (ticking is undesirable) With preferably all black patches, having the appearance of being torn, light nails permissable, in harlies wall eyes are permissable. (in the uk you can show blue harlies too) Brindle Must be striped, ground colour from lightest buff to deepest orange. Will be back in a minute and post you some sites so you can see the colours. Bostons are not a show colour in the UK. Roo Quote
Guest roo Posted September 7, 2002 Posted September 7, 2002 This is a good site http://www.danesonline.com you can look at all the colours in different sections. Roo Quote
