Well, Lily is 9 months old now and has had the runs her whole life. Its not what Im feeding her because she has had enough different diets since I got her that i would have seen a change from one to the next, so we can almost rule that out. I wish it was her diet though, because now I have to take her to the vet and spend ALOT of money to get tests to see what the underlying cause is. :(
I will have to get her tested for Inflammitary Bowel disease, Ulcerous Colitu and heart disease amound other things. I've had her heart checked before and it was fine, but apparently sometimes things do pop up late, there is a link between digestive problems and heart problems, that is why I have to check for that.
I will take her as soon as I can afford it

Best wishes to you & Lily!
A big kiss from Ruby, too! :P
I hope the vet can't find anything wrong, and it is just that you have been changing the food a lot.
Have you tried testing the water? Even tap water can have nasty things in it, believe it or not. :( Maybe the city can come test the water?

This may sound prissy, or like I am spoiling her too much; but we have a water filter on our Kitchen faucet, and Ruby only gets filtered water in her water bowl & travel water bottle.
(Atlanta water = Ick!) Some of the water pipes in Atlanta could be literally almost as old as the Civil War! :(
Call me crazy if you want! 8)

Thanks everyone.
I don't think its because I've changed her food too much, when I change it I usually stick to it for at least a month, and within a month or more you should be able to see the difference, plus for the first 4 or so months of her life she was on the same diet and her poos were runny too.
It could be the water I guess, sometimes I get sick because of the tap water... but I think thats all in my head because it only ever happens when I've been drinking so I blame it on the water I have afterwards... :-?
If that were the case though, you would think that alot of dogs around here would have the runs, but I don't think thats the case. Still, I'll keep it in mind and hope its something as simple as that!
I'll be sure to keep you all posted, I'm not sure when I'll get the money to do it yet either, it could be in a week or a month, I dont know.

Hope you will be able to get the problem solved, it's a worry when you know there's something not right, but sometimes you have to just accept you have done your best. My Min Pin, Sam, has always had unusual bowels motions, he will always go 3 times every morning, the first is perfectly normal, the next very loose and the third just runny water, all this within 15/20 minutes. Occassionally he also get a stomach cramp, tum goes as hard as a rock and he spends the time on my knee, this can last for half a day up to 24 hours. My Vet. has done every test he can think of. Main problem is I'm 150ks from the Vet. and three times I've raced him over there, once at 5.30am, but each time it's worn of by the time we get there. There is just no common denominator for these attacks. I used to think Sam wouldn't live long, but he's 6 next month and still behaves like a puppy, looks fine and has heaps of energy, the only time he is still is when he has his tummy ache, sometimes none for months then maybe 2 in a week. I know your Lucy's problem is different to Sam's but some things don't always have an answer and you have to be guided by your dog's attitude to life. So try not to worry too much, we can only do our best for our mates.

I was just told tonight that the reason my Ruby has gas & soft stool could be from the pork treats we feed her. She loves pig bones!
Now, we will restrict them & see what happens.
Do you feed pig products?
Could that be a factor?
What kind of treats do you feed?
It is something to consider, if you ruled out the regular food you feed, then you may want to think about it.
Hope this might help to narrow down the problem.
Good luck!

I think they have pork in alot of dog foods, so that is possible. When she was on BARF and I had the chance to moniter what she ate it did get a little better, but when I realized that I really coudn't afford it I couldn't feed it to her anymore I had to stop feeding it to her. Before I go spending hundreds on tests I think I may buy a big bag of really good quality food, Pro Plan, with no preservatives, colours and using lamb as the prime ingredient, no other meats (i think). I'll feed it for two months, then if no improvement I'll get the tests.

Well, for the first few weeks at least, until I can see whether there is a difference or no difference, I will stick just to one type of food, no extras Once I see if that works I can start adding other things, one at a time to see if she reacts
