I saw that they also stated the AKC supports the mills - what a joke that is why all the new scam registries have popped up since the AKC started requiring DNA testing of the big breeders dogs to make sure the pups came from the parents that were stated. AKC has NO enforcement rights beyond the right to remove registration priviledges when they find people not abiding by their rules on that. Its local and Federal authorities who have the right and the power and the ability to control the mills and the conditions in them - but heck blaming the people who are supposed to be upholding the local cruelty laws would be silly right? I prefer sites to tell the truth. Mills can be horrid places but some are not. I do believe that mills are irresponsible breeders who care nothing for what happens to their pups as soon as they are sold. I do believe some are really crappy places for dogs but I also believe you need to combat the issues with truth not lies made up simply to grab some sympathy for the 'cause'. I suggest a visit to www.nopuppymills.com for some more reliable information on the subject. I AM heartily in favor of no one buying anything from a store that sells live animals - and yep I include birds fish reptiles and ferrets in that list of live animals even though one well known chain or more has decided those are 'safe' animals to stock! I am concerned that the USDA standards for the proper care of dogs in breeding farms are not set high enough and are not regularly enforced. I am urging you to please do all you can to raise the standards and help end the suffering of the thousands of dogs trapped in these farms. Thank you for your time and consideration. Quote
