I recall seeing a black and white boxer, same as a fawn and white in markings... He was a sleek looking dog... but that was some time ago. Is this not a standard color or is it something genetic?

Various shades Fawn and Brindle(with white markings not to exceed one third of their body) are the only standard coat colors.....Whites and Checks are common ,but aren't recognized as an accepted color.
"Black" boxers nowadays are referred to as "reverse brindles" ,meaning that the black brindle striping is so heavy that you can't see the fawn base coat, giving the impression of an all black boxer.Supposedly when these dogs are standing in direct sunlight you can see the striping pattern, but there ARE breeders who claim that they have pure black boxers with no brindling,whatsoever....

at least thats what I've read.....

Thanks smooshie!
I remember that the dog I saw was at the beach... but as to weather it was sunny or not... well around here it's not sunny alot at the beaches. I just remember the dog bounding through the waves in typical maniac boxer fashion! :D

yet another line I will use in my everyday speach thank you hazel

I remember a topic not to long ago talking about black boxers and (if I remember correctly) after about 5 pages of EVERYONE telling the poor guest author there was no such thing and she didn't have one someone came up with a link to a black boxer webring and a homepage of a "breeder" it was an interesting read, but I reallt doubt I would buy a dog from that breeder

My friend has a reverse brindle, but she's white as well. Funny little dog...she knows exactly when everyone should be home from work/school and she's only a year!

Really? Oh, Sophie is not that way. She's got some long, lean legs on her! That's interesting to know! Man, I'm learning a lot tonight!

Thanks! :D

but hey the dog that turned me on to boxers "Otto" was around 130 pounds
I was a 400 meter sprinter and held 3 district records and 1 state, I used to run with dogs for training and try to tire them out. It was great conditioning for me, cuz dogs really dont run out of steem. But Otto could run twice as fast as me for a mile and not break a sweat and he was FAST to this day I've never met a dog faster or fitter
