Guest roo Posted August 15, 2002 Posted August 15, 2002 Well the World show was a good few weeks ago, One of the sad things that happened there was a little Yorkshire Terrier was found, half hidden in some bushes outside the show, still in its box, with its crackers in, DEAD there has been alot of searching going on, to find the disgusting owner of this poor little mite, he has got a tattoo on his ear and so far they have been able to trace him to Poland, i will keep you all informed as more news comes in. But how on earth could anyone just dump him? What had happened to him? A really horrid side to the world of dog shows Roo. Quote

Who knows if the dog was stolen from the show grounds and hidden by someone who did not know it might die left in its crate? There seems to be to me a lot of different thoughts on this other than that the owner was a bad person. Quote
Smooshie Posted August 16, 2002 Posted August 16, 2002 <<And what would you do in a foreign country if your dog passed away and you had to go home? >> Is there some law against disposing of your dog PROPERLY if he passes away in a foreign country?? Who knows if the dog was stolen from the show grounds and hidden by someone who did not know it might die left in its crate? >> Ummmmm....If the dog was STOLEN don't you think the owner of such a valuable show dog would have REPORTED IT MISSING??? <<There seems to be to me a lot of different thoughts on this other than that the owner was a bad person. >> I'm sure the proper authorities are following up on every possible lead, but you have to admit, the owner DOES seem to have some explaining to do...dontcha think??? Yes there could be many explanations, But, if you had your dog stolen at a show, you wouldn't just go home and not say anything would you? And i don't know about you? But if my dog died at a show no matter where in the world it was there is no way on this earth i would hide it in some bushes. It is true we dont know the whole story yet, but i will put up any more information i get on it as i get it. Whatever happened to this poor little mite, dumping him is wrong, and whoever did it is wrong. Roo Quote

Roo I personally am not attached to dead bodies once the 'person' I knew in them is gone - I do know and respect that others feel differently but I don't find the 'husk' to be the person at all whether its a human or an animal. I do know that if I were in a country where I had no idea what the rules were, the costs were, or how to speak the language, or if I might be accused of a crime I would not know how to defend myself against I might not act in the same way I would at home is all. Nor might I know how to handle a missing dog situation correctly. Sure there are jerks who show dogs - plenty of them in every country I am sure - but saying this reflects a 'sad side of showing' is rather like deciding the couple of posters here reflect the 'sad side of bulletin board posting' - a bit much if you see what I mean! You say you would not know how to handle a missing dog at a show in another country? It would be the same in whatever country you were in. You would report the missing dog to the show management. (you obviously know all about showing?) I agree that dead bodies are not what or who was there, Hey, why not just dump granny by the roadside, its only a body, we took her on holiday to spain and she died, hey lets just hide her under that bush. PLEASE Roo Quote
Smooshie Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002  .....oh geez, call me sadistic, but NOW I can't get the mental image of " poor Granny stuffed under a bush at the roadside" out of my head Thanks Roo  Quote

PLEASE Roo Oh here we go again answering questions politely and honesty meets only with nastiness and sarcasm from the moderator :-( Please READ the topic title you posted - between that and your post its pretty clear what you said that you were speaking about the 'sad side' of showing. I said I *MIGHT* not act in the same way I did at home - now who is misquoting for pure sensationalism? What I was looking for was a little less bashing of dog showing, a little more compassion for a stranger who was in a situation you know nothing about, a little more balance in your review of the situation, and a little bit of 'moderation' in the way you presented things. Oh sorry  I forgot who you were when I was expecting you to show any of the above. You want HORROR? go look at the world of pet owners who do not show at all and take a good close look at how the animals are treated, disposed of, and housed in pet homes and in puppy farms. Now *that* is a sad side of animal ownership for you. Oh tired of Rover? just dump him along the highway or at the kill shelter! Unwanted pups born? no problem just dump them in the trash bin alive to be killed when compacted in the trash truck or to freeze or bake to death! One dog who died of unknown circumstances at one show, that I suspect you did not attend, and you point fingers at dog showing without even once considering all the nice people with all their nice dogs who all left in perfect health as being the norm of the world show.     Quote

It is a horror to find any dog in a box under bushes dead.. The saddest part is that people who sell these dogs and require such in depth forms and papers to fill out. Along with the money you pay for a good dog with titles and structure and to think someone cared no more for him than to put him in a bush. That is what the world sees. It does put a damper on the show world like it or not... We know their are people who care for their dogs but now you wonder who really LOVES. So the best thing that can be done is to find this owner or person and go on. And should anyone travel over seas or to a different country with their dog please find out about the rules and things for this and make sure your animal is in top shape. Please! Not one person is talking about puppy mills or anything else.. And breeders sell to pet homes so we won't go there.. Quote
Guest roo Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 Jacsmom Thank you for your reply, i have read and re read all the posts in this topic. I have come to the conclusion that everyone but guest has glasses that read the correct words written :o There is more news on the little dog, but i will write it in the NDR section, I find this argumentative attitude ridiculous, and quite frankly have had enough of this guest who just continues to try to cause upsets in most topics, I know i am a moderator, i am not someone who gets upset or stressed by situations, so from now on i am choosing to ignore this guest, Guest you are not worthy of my time or effort. For anyone wishing to find out more on the little dog, i will post in the NDR section. If anyone finds what i have said offensive, then please pm me. It will be a sad day when all posts have to go to the NDR to stop the trouble making and upset that certain people seem to want to cause. But i can see it happening in the future. Roo Quote

Roo EXCUSE ME? you are the one posting stuff that is upsetting and offbase here and you blame ME for being more open minded than you are about the situation? You must be one of the people who cannot comprehend how others feel or react and have no idea how different cultures approach things pretty limited for someone moderating an international forum. I know you love to bash things - I've seen you do it repeatedly just please don't lie about it saying 'oh poor me picked upon because of what I posted!' Quote

Again guest, making up your our little quotes, " oh poor me being picked upon because of what i have posted" I find your multifaceted personality in the differeing way you post very strange. But many people on this forum find you tactless, rude and offensive, argumentative and also very informative. I do not get upset by your posts at all sorry. But the updates on the little dog have moved now. Oh by the way only 11 posts lasts night  Quote
