Hi there everyone,
I was wondering if anyone breeds toy munchkins? Or does anyone know anyone that breeds blue brindle American pit bulls? Please if anyone knows, I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks so much.

What state/country do you live in? That might help people :) Also, most "blue pit bulls" or blue brindles for that matter, are descended from AmStaff lines, so if you're looking for a more "performance" or working type pit, you might have a hard time finding one. If you go with a breeder, be careful, as blue and blue brindle are dilutes, and (I think) have more health problems than fully pigmented colors. Make sure the breeder does all the health testing, and good luck finding what you're looking for. Do you plan on doing any activities with the dog (Obedience, weight pull, agility, etc), or is it just going to be a family pet?

Hi there,
I am looking for breeders that breed them for a family pet. I live in NH. I don't think there is a breeder in this state. I love the color of the breed and I want to breed them when I have time. Also regular brindle is fine too. If you know anyone that breeds blue or regular brindle, than that good help me alot. Thanks so much.

If you want to breed, then don't get a "pet quality" dog. There are more than enough people out there buying pet dogs and breeding them because they only wanted a pet, but they also wanted to breed. This has caused real problems for the breed. If you're really serious about breeding, then for the sake of the breed, and for the dogs you produce, do it right. Get quality dogs from working or conformation stock, have them proven in some sort of "breed suitability test", whether it's weightpull, conformation, or whatever. You shouldn't breed them until they are at least 2 years of age, since before that, they are really still puppies, not to mention some health tests can't be done until 2 years of age. Then, if you still want to breed them, make sure you get all their health screenings done (you need more than a simple vet check for this), and find a dog who's temperment/conformation compliments your dog. If you get your dog(s) from a responsible breeder, they'll be able to answer any questions you have about your dog(s). Breeding dogs responsibly takes a lot of work, and a lot of money.
If you really don't want to get into that, then you might want to look into adopting a rescue dog. Most of them are already spayed/neutered, but even if they aren't they shouldn't be bred anyway (you have no clue what health problems their lines may carry), and they should already be fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, etc for a price lower than just purchasing a pet quality puppy. A lot of shelters test the dogs in different situations to see how they react, some are housebroken, some are even partially or fully trained. Rescue dogs can participate in most dog "sports", and give just as much love as a dog from a breeder.

They can do pretty much anything other breeds can do, but by work, I mostly meant the dog "sports" that dogs from the working breeds do, like Schutzhund (and other protection type sports), weight pull, herding, etc. Pits are usually pretty good at weight pull, some do well at the protection sports, and a few can herd. There are also a few SAR pits out there, here's a site for some in California www.forpitssake.org.

Lat me assure you there are LOTS of pitbull breeders in your state.
Check www.petfinder.org for dogs up for adoption in your area.
Munchkins are not a real breed of dog they are misformed pomeranian mixes with a shaved butt. Its a scam breed for sale at a big price to the extremely gullible with more money than sense.

Hey.
Thansk so much for helping me out. I really apprceatite. Thanks so much. For Guest, I jsut wanted to tell you that Toy munchkins are a very small breed. I believe that the height is 5 inches. My family and I want a small breed for know. I think they are cute, but I am afraid that I will step on him or her. It's actually my mom's idea. About breeding the pit bulls. It all depends on how many breeders there are. If there not to many, than yeah, but if there's to many, than no. Thanks again for all your help.

Pay close attention - there is NO such breed as a munchkin dog its a SCAM where someone is crossbreeding dogs and shaving their rears to make them look like something other than the malformed dogs they are.
Now there is a breed of munchkin cat but it does not sound like what you are referring too. Several toy breeds frequently have very small individuals in them - however something to know is the tiniest ones are seldom as healthy as the slightly larger ones will be. I still suggest you check www.petfinder.org for toy breeds of dog including chihuahua, yorkie, maltese, pomeranian etc if you want a small dog.
As some of the original pure lines of pitbull were developed in the NH area I think you will find the numbers of dogs in any color (one does not breed this particular breed for color anyhow) are excessively high. I know of shelters right in NH that no longer will accept pitbulls to adopt out - they just kill them as no one will adopt them :( and they do not have the funds to keep them forever. They tell owners to place the dogs themselves or know that the dogs they dump will be euthanised. The story is similar all over the country for this beleaguered breed with its excessively high population and its excessively low number of responsible owners to go with it.

I was going to say, aren't toy munchkins just Yorkshire Terriers cross Chihuahuas?
If your after a small dog, go to the shelter. Otherwise I would get a Silky/Maltese cross, they are adorable dogs!

Here is a link to some info about the so called Toy Munchkins.
http://www.sunshineband.org/articles/MUTTS.shtml

You can also do a search from yahoo.com just type in toy munchkin dog and press enter.

Certainly it's Let the Buyer Beware. If you want a mutt, great! Mutts are wonderful dogs. If you want to spend a couple thousand dollars for your mutt, go for it, it's your money. If you want to finance these so-called breeders so they can make more little mutts, who can stop you.
Please just do your homework.
If you want to rescue a mutt from your local shelter or check out petfinder.org, all the better. You can find an adorable little mutt that needs a home, as well as many purebred dogs, for a whole lot less and you might just have saved their life.
