Guest Anonymous Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 Does anyone know where I can advertise two superb Chinese Shar-pei puppies for sale? These pups come from excellent champion lines and should sell for over $1000. They are homegrown, and we are not trying to get top money, even though they are top quality. We just love growing "babies." We live in a small rural Georgia area and don't intend on being big breeders. This is our first litter, and advertising prices are terrible around here. Does anyone out there know the ropes for the most efficient advertising? Hop :-? Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 I'm just curious... what part of rural Georgia are you in? We may be neighbors. We recently placed a Shar Pei rescue dog. We had him forever (it seemed) and had a hard time placing him and he was only $60 (and that was actually to cover the costs of neutering, vacs, mange treatment, etc.) and a great dog with awesome temperament for a Shar Pei (the very few we see around here tend to be very dog aggressive and/or fear biters). People around here (at least in my part of GA) aren't so interested in having them except the people who want something just because it's different, but know nothing about the breed, but then those are not the types of homes you would be looking for. Anyway, more than anything, I was just curious about which part of GA you were in. I'm close to the FL line, near Tallahassee. Quote

What is the incidence of Shar Pei Fever in your lines? Have you seen any mucosa problems? any food or other allergies? did you have to tack eyes? Has the owner of the sire or the breeder of sire or dam any interest in helping you place these pups? Good breeders usually are interested in the pups out of dogs of their breeding. What exactly makes your dogs 'top quality'? are both the parents top winning champions? I would think you would have it easy finding good homes then as normally people who show really nice dogs have NO problem placing really nice pups. What criteria besides cash in hand do you have for the potential owners of your puppies? What guarantees do you give? What health clearances do the parents have? How are the pups being raised and socialized? Ah so many unanswered questions - my guess is your preferred location will be one of the mill and byb sales sites like buybelowcost.com  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 How very sad@ All the wrong reasons for breeding with no knowledge of what's meant by a reputable breeder. The big tip off was ." We just love growing babies." The poorest excuse for breeding any dogs. The shelters and rescue are full up with dogs who were born from this mentality. For your information from champion lines means nothing. How many champions are there in the 4 generation pedigree (each side). You are disgusting. You want to breed these poor dogs (my hunch is they are of very poor quality) and sell them for $1000 a piece (my other hunch is somebody said boy those kind of dogs sell for a lot of money, you ought to breed them), but you don't want to pay advertising fees because they are high. Most reputable breeders have most if not all of their pups sold or people on a waiting list before the pups are ever born and sometimes before the dogs are even bred. but of course reputable breeders put out all the money beforehand testing sires and dames for all the breed specific illnesses. Am I being nasty, yes, I am. You are nothing more than a BYB. What other breeds do you breed, Mr. Miller? Quote
