Guest Anonymous Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 This is really nasty, but I have to ask you this one. I am totally stumped. I need help or I will worry myself to death. First of all I noticed the other day McKenzie had doggy diarrehea for about 48 hours. Well then for the next day or two she seemed to not be able to do. She sniffs around and squats and tries, but she just can't go. She tried for about 30 minutes. She walked all around in a half squatted position. It looked kinda funny, but I felt bad for her. Now she seems to go back in forth between can't go and can't stop going. It's really odd. Anybody got any ideas!!! she has always seemed to have a slight doggy diarrehea problem, but her vet said it wasn't a problem that it was problem just the way her digestive system works, but now she has the can't go problem. I wish she would make up her mind. Any help??? sorry that was so nasty, but I truly need help Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 thank you very much....actually now that I think about it McKenzie has had rice, chicken, sloppy joes, potatoes, mac and cheese, and meatloaf leftovers this week. That could be it!!!! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 holy cow! :o I think your dog eats better then I do! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 2, 2002 Posted August 2, 2002 Well I will tell you why she eats so well. She didn't eat that many leftovers before we moved in with the inlaws. There are 6 people in our house. The only one that ever cleans his plate is my hubby. So that leaves 5 plates of leftovers, we split it between McKenzie and BJ(my inlaws husky/shepard mix) Sometimes the people in this house don't eat all there food as an excuse to go out and play with McKenzie. BJ doesn't get as much attetion as she does but he is 13 years old he doesn't care. He don't like McKenzie either, she is always jumping in his face and trying to play. He growls and she backs off briefly. Maybe all the leftovers are what got to her because she seems fine now. Quote
Gordonmom Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 Hopefully by now your dogs poop problems are under control :D , but in the future you might want to try adding a bit of canned pumpkin to his food to regulate his stools! Quote
anne3149 Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 4 days is a long time for bowel problems. I would take the dog to the vet is she is not completely back to normal.. Diarrhoea and then after a day or so straining it could be an obstruction. Is she OK now. Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted October 22, 2002 Posted October 22, 2002 My Chaps has a similar problem, he goes sometimes a couple days of not being able to have hard stool. I too asked my Vet and he said that this could just be a "cleansing" type thing that his body does to keep healthy, but the fact that this is happening in combination with constipation, I would go to your vet again and ask for some test on the GI tract, something could be blocking the "flow" so the body is trying to correct it by getting watering down the stool, just to get it out, but then when it goes back to normal then it still cannot come out. I dunno if this could be the problem, but if it continues, I would definately bring your dog in. Quote
