Hi
We have a husky, he is not a mean dog by nature, but he does not like people he does not know messing with him or taking his food. We have two boys that live in our neighborhood that like to come to our house and steal things, they already tried to steal our other dog. We have the husky on a chain right now (he is having heartworm treatment) and will have him on a lead soon. There is a sign next to him that says not to mess with him cause he will bite. We really just put that there so that no one would excite him while he is on that treatment. My question is if those boys come down there and mess with him and he bites them, are we responsible? I dont want them to try to take our dog and put him down cause he bit some people who were trying to take him or his food? Does anyone know about this.
Thank you

Cattieos, I think much will depend on where you are. Laws vary so widely depending on locale. If you are in the states, this site has a lot of info regarding dog bites and liability. Good luck with your dog's treatment and with the rotten neighbor kids. I feel your pain.... my neighbors' kids are brats, too.

wow what a cool site thanks alot this is good stuff

its a shame that we even have to worry about the punks up the street, it should just be, they got what was comin to em...ya know,
they stick their hand in or provoke the dog than yeah I hope they do get their face chewed up. These people need to have respect and if there gonna act like 4 year olds than they need to be taught like 4 year olds instead of a spanking they get a bite

sounds fine to me scars heal and kids learn right

too bad uncle sam doesn't take the same view

but I know exactly what you mean my huskies hated strangers touching them to. I never had a dog that bit but I think we might have gotten close a couple times
I'll tell you the best plan for your husky, move to Wasila alaska buy a few acres on "Big Lake" or a lake near there and never put your dog on a leash again. my huskies were in absolute heaven out there, they had 62 acres all to them self the only thing that changed since god put it all there was the cabin I slept in. It is truely fullfilling seeing a dog runing in his native enviroment
it's a nice thing to think about :D
