my dog has an awful lot of ear wax and the vet gave me a persciption but it does not seem to work someone metioned that i was to use oil and cold water can anyone advise me on this subject i dont want to do the wrong thing :roll:

if there is gunk in your dog's ears its normally not wax but the result of either a mite infection or a yeast infection etc
go back to your vet and ask about it again!

It also depends on what kind of breed you have... if you have a Beagle or another heavy eared breed, you should be expecting that. But then if you have a stand up eared breed like the sibe... then there is reason for concern. I bought this ear cleaner by Top Performance out of New England Serum Company (the best company there is!) Get some ear cleaner and try that for a while. If the dog is scratching and his ear smells really bad and is kinda red.. more than ususal.. take him in again.

Oh very! And the color is soo... ummm.... beautiful! we better stop now! I just lost my appetiate! Speaking of ear wax it just so happens I have a dog in need of it removed!

DO NOT PUT WATER IN THE EAR, YOU CAN CLEAN THE EAR WITH A BIT OF OIL, IF THE DOG HAS AN INFECTION IT WILL MAKE IT WORSE, AND DONT POKE AROUND TOO FAR INSIDE.
YOU CAN BUY EAR CLEANERS FROM VETS AND GOOD PETSHOPS.
