Guest Anonymous Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Okay question for all you dog people out there :).. We just recently purchased a puppy from the Animal Shelter not too long ago. They said she was 7 weeks old and she was a mixture between a Beagle and an Italian Greyhound.. First of all my question is this even possible? I know most people think Grey hound and there like OMG :).. They told us she wouldn't get much bigger but everyday she grows a little more.. I know what Italian Greyhounds look like there Big Dogs and Im in an apartment.. SO Im like uhhh.. :).. So anyways.. Is there certain signs I can look for as for the dog beingBeagle and Italian Greyhound? Is it possible to have both Beagle and Greyhound in one or did I get "had" :).. Please Advise.. If possible email resonse to Saturn499@yahoo.com Thanks Kevin Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Congratulations on your pooch! I also wanted to add that Italian Greyhounds are small dogs. It's the just plain ol' Greyhounds that are so big. IG's are, I believe, a toy breed. :D Quote

Not sure the "specs" on Greyhounds, but my neighbors dog sit their friend's dogs when they are on vacation and their rescued greyhound is a lot taller than 17"! Congrats as well! :D Quote

Had to edit that...'but can get as tall as 17" ' I had 147" instead of 17" to begin with. That's a BIG dog! Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 i have a dog of this mix. he has the beagle markings, ears, and howl. he has long legs, a long face, and large torso/sunken belly of a greyhound. he likes to run, chase, and wresle with other dogs. if you have an off-leash park around and you can go out to it regularly, then you should have no problem with this kind of dog in an apartment. but that is just my opinion based on my experience. courtnek Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 I have a friend who has one - named "Sinatra", of all things..... mixed with a beagle you're looking at maybe 20 lbs tops. Nowhere NEAR the size of a regular greyhound, which can weigh in wxcess of 110 lbs.... I think you're good to go in an apartment, but he will need exercise. Greyhounds (even the italian ones) like to run. Quote
Rosebud Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 :D Wow what a mix. Your dog should not get any bigger than a Beagle. IG's are little, they're lap dogs. They look like a miniature Greyhound, some people call them miniature's. Here's a pic of my Sandy Notice the scrunchy toy behind her. Comparing IG to 4-5 week old RR's, that's a cat collar on the IG. Comparing IG to year old RR's Would love to see some pics of your baby. Quote
