Guest Anonymous Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 [quote name='julie45'] a freind of mine is a mobile hairdressers, any way she has been going to this persons house for some years now and they have a lab. my freind went into the house made a fuss of the dog as always, did the ladies hair then she turned round to leave, and the dog just got up and attack her from behind and took a chunk out of my freinds arm. now she as been going there since the dog was a pup and no one knows what made him do it. she ended up at the hospital and the people decided to have the dog put down.it just gose to show you what can happen at any time with a dog of any breed. i,m not really sure what i would have done in that situation.but the owners of the dog felt it was only right as how would they ever trust the dog again.i just thought i would share this with you to show it can happen to any of our dogs big small at any time. Dogs tend to bite when they believe they can win - thats why the cartoons show the seat being torn out of people's pants when a dog grabs them. Things that are fleeing are fair game in a dog's mind. I would guess the dog hit his maturity and decided he was in charge of who could come and go and she was leaving either before he was ready to let her go or perhaps he felt assaulted by the chemicals that normally come with a hairdressing session and was punishing her for that. Dogs always bite for a reason - we poor humans figuring out that reason may be another story. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 Guest #1 - they're the most ridiculous reasons I've ever heard. I can only guess that perhaps this dog has bitten before or it is very ill. In any event, I'd certainly have a full medical and neurological work-up done before PTS. I am very sorry for your friend. How terrifying it must have been for her, and I wish her a speedy recovery. julie45 Posted July 21, 2002 Author Posted July 21, 2002 my freind will not go into any house were a dog is now. when she gose to do some ones hair they all have to put the dogs out or in another room. the people who owned the dog that bite her didnt try and find out why, they just took him and had him put to sleep.now that is the question i'm not sure that would have been my frist respones.yes i would have gone to a vet and talk about it and yes i would have had the dog checked over.but they didn't. was there frist respose the right one,i,m not sure really what i would have done.her arm had to have stichers but she onlt trust her own dog now.which lets face it there has to be some thing wrong for a dog to just get up and attack from behind??
