Guest Anonymous Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 A friend of mine told me that her dad would give their litter of pups (accidental breeding) tobacco in their food to deworm them. Not too much as it can kill dogs, but I guess once they took the pups to the vet, none had worms. Does that seem weird or strange???????????????????????? Quote

This comes under the heading of dangerous folk medicine - certainly the tobacco is poisonous but there are better and safer products to worm a pup with. I wonder how many (if any) of the pups later ended up with stomach or intestinal cancers? Or how many made a meal of the tobacco they found in their new homes and died from it - pups will eat what they learned to eat as a pup you know. Quote

One of the pups they kept (and still have). Now, he sneaks off with their cigarette butts and eats the tobacco out of them...leaves the rest of the butt, but will eat all of the tobacco. Thankfully, I think they are done with the whole pup thing...That really scares me! Quote
