Guest Anonymous Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 Hi, I was wondering if anyone know of a site somewhere which may explain how to scissor the coat on the top of a golden retriever from the neck on down with thinning sheer's to make the coat lay nice. This is for a straight coat golden. Which direction do you hold the thinning sheers to trim as to not make it look choppy and lay nice. Any help greatly appreciated. Show prospect needs help SOS TIA  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 I don't know much about show grooming, myself, but here is a link to a grooming forum where you could post your question. Many people on this forum are very knowledgeable about show grooming. I'd be willing to bet that somewhere there would be able to answer your question, or provide some great links. Good luck! :D http://www.groomers.org/discus/ Quote

When you are scissoring coat and DON'T want that choppy look you scissor down the coat from above - ie if the hair is growing down towards the ground along a shoulder you do your brushing and then with the scissor blades pointing down the way the hair grows you make your trims - boy is that easier to explain with a dog and scissors in hand  Quote
