Guest Anonymous Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 I recently adopted a dog rescued from the pound. Today I took her to the vet to find out she is a new breed of dog called a Chowphard (sp) which is a chow and shephard mix. Does anyone know anything about this new breed of dog? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 Its not really a new breed. Just a new kind of mutt. Like the bull boxer or the laberdoodle. If you think about it even the beagle really is a mutt. Every breed has come down from diffrent breeds. But then when they have the breed how they want them they keep breeding to make the breed better and better. :D :P :D :P Quote
GizmoRedNosePit Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 Beaglle you hit it right on the head of the nail!! They do breed "mutts" so that breed does get better and better! Beaglle the other night I was at the dog park, and this makle beagle came in and it was cute in the beggining and then it attacked Gizmo, and a weimeriner(sp?) and a couple other dogs....I found out the day after why.,,, It hadn't been fixed....I really wonder if that is the reason....hmmmm Lets just hope when gizmo gets bigger and that dog comes back, that gizmo doesn't hurt it...if she gets mad....I dont think she will but....she will think its playing at first and then the dog got meaner faster and then she layed on her back...so i dunno! Guest Anonymous Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 Oh weird! Beagles were bred to be pack dogs so they should get along with other breeds! But do to some evil people  out there the beagle might have come from a bad breeding. Beagles are one of the leading puppy mills because they produce such cute puppys and because they have such great temperments. Or something your pooch did might have made it attack?? I really don't know. Just re-read.. my beagle is still "in-tact" but he is not aggresive at all with other dogs. The beagle at the park maybe wasn't socialized to well. This makes me REALLY mad.... I don't live to far from the Handford Nuclear Power Plant. Well they used to do expirments on beagles and their mascott was called the burning beagle. A lot of research places do expirment on beagles because they have the highest tolarnce for pain. isnt that mean?? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 By the way GizmoRedNose is that a pic of your pit?? If so how adorable!! Great pic! :D Quote

I really hope the vet was pulling your leg as its not a new breed and its not even a new mix happens all the time when irresponsible people leave their dogs intact and let them breed as they will. For some reason dogs with fuzzy tails seem to like each other :-) and dogs with smooth tails like the fuzzy ones too - hmm maybe fuzzy tails are a come on in dogs  Anyway tons of chows mixed with things out there and tons of shephard mixes too. I hope your dog got the trainability and smarts along with the fuzz and not the hard headedness or guard dog tendencies or hip and knee problems out of her mix :-) Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 21, 2002 Posted June 21, 2002 This could be a new breed you can never know Quote
Peng1zrule Posted June 21, 2002 Posted June 21, 2002 your vet was probably being funny...a chowpherd (the dogs herd, not hard, so it is spelled...shepherd) it is not a real breed but a common mix. however, people will breed two purebreeds of different breeds and try to pass them off as a new purebreed...it doesn't work that way. a pup from two different breeds, no matter how pure, is still a mix.
