Muzzles for Staffs

Hi there...I am from the UK and own a 2 year old 36lb male SBT who has plenty of love, affection & lengthy outdoor excercise each day in open wooded areas, however, he tends to be a bit unpredictable in built up areas (eg: high street) and also gets very aggressive in the vets....basically, for times when we are in these situations I would like to train him to use a muzzle but having tried before I found it almost impossible!! The 3 muzzles that i have tried before turned out to be weak, breakable and flimsy....he removed them with ease and I felt bad making them tighter to try to keep them on him....so any suggestions/makes that anyone can recommend?? Nipper is overall a very friendly dog but it took the vet 15 attempts over 5 days to give him his yearly boosters, so aggressive.......has anyone got any advice or can anyone recommend an online pet shop that caters for this breed specifically???? Thanks

I avoided responding to this post but I can't hold off. Use of a muzzle is a clear sign of an out of control dog and owner. Train your dog. There is no excuse for use of a muzzle. Even in cases of behaviorial problems, fear biting etc. The solution is not a muzzle. Take the time to find out what your dog's problem is and work with him.

Ask your vet about a referral to a behaviorist for you to work on the very serious problems your dog is showing. At 2 the dog is not yet mature by 3 he may well be totally out of your control.
There are some GREAT behaviorists in the UK - I hope you can connect up with one of them to help you out.
