Guest Anonymous Posted May 29, 2002 Posted May 29, 2002 As people we all have pre-concieved ideas and thoughts about other races of our society. We think or say things that show some racist or predjudice feelings towards others, that are not of our particular breed. I believe the very same thing is happening to our lovable American Pitbull Terriers and American Staff Terriers. People automatically have pre-conceived ideas about them and are thus racist and predjudice towards them without coming to even know one or some of them. Just like there are bad people in every race of society, there are bad dogs in every breed of dog society. Just like the society we live in, people naturally gravitate towards certains races and blame them for most crimes. So, people do the very same thing when it comes to our beloved friends the APBT & AMSTAFF. It is a bloody shame that people do this to others and to our dogs. Quote

Racism in dogs would be if other dogs had prejudices againt the pitbulls and amstaffs :-) and based on the zillions of mixes of those breeds always available I don't think the term applies. APBT are not all loveable - in fact the dog the average city dweller will see of that breed is a) on death row in the pound b) on the leash of or with some absolute idiot using it for some macho display and c) in the headlines. Lousy press for sure on this breed and poor representation by too many careless low quality owners. I don't dislike pitbulls despite having my dogs attacked more than once by the breed when some stupid owner was showing off. I can tell you its sad for a dog lover to be happy when their dog is running around with a pitbull in its jaws :-( I blame the owners - the dogs are doing what is natural to them. Quote

GizmoRedNosePit Posted May 29, 2002 Posted May 29, 2002  True it is VERY heartbreaking but all we can do as APBT owners is inform as many people as we can that this breed is one of the greatest breeds in the world!!! :D Smile, Smile Smile thats all we can do when people descriminate Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 30, 2002 Posted May 30, 2002 Hollywood, I think you made a great example of what is happening to our breed!!! Guest, You said you don't have any problem with the breed , but you sound a bit hostile. What was this owner doing to show off? Some owners are idiots and think it's cool for their dogs to be agressive. Could you give a name when you reply? Quote
