Did they also advise you to bring her in for an exam? Pepto Bismol for diabetes???

How long has your pet had the problems? I would suspect that the Pepto may have been meant as only an emergency measure until she could be brought to the vet.

SUGAR DIABETES. AFFECTS ALL ORGANS, IT IS DUE TO THE INADEQUATE PRODUCTION OF INSULIN BY THE PANCREAS, WITHOUT INSULIN THE BODY CANT UTILIZE SUGAR IN THE BLOOD, IT BUILDS UP, SOON TO EXCESS THE KIDNEYS HAVE TO GET RID OF IT. THE RESULT. EXCESSIVE PEEING. A URINE SAMPLE WILL TEST POSITIVE. ACIDS ARE FORMED IN THE BLOOD OF DIABETICS, HIGH LEVELS LEAD TO A CONDITION CALLED KETOACIDOSIS, ONE SIGN OF THAT THE BREATH HAS ASWEETISH SMELL LIKE NAIL VARNISH REMOVER. IN EARLY STAGES OF DIABETES A DOG WILL TRY TO COMPENSATE BY EATING MORE FOOD, LATER HE SUFFERS THE EFFECTS OF MALNOURISHMENT, THEN THERE IS A DROP IN APPETITE. THE EARLY SIGNS ARE FREQUENT PEEING, DRINKING LOTS OF WATER, A LARGE APPETITE, UNEXPLAINED LOSS OF WEIGHT. ADVANCED SIGNS, LOSS OF APPETITE, VOMITING, WEAKNESS, SWEET BREATH, LABOURED BREATHING, LETHARGY, AND FINALLY COMA CATARACTS ARE COMMON IN DIABETICS. I AM SORRY IF YOU THOUGHT I WAS BEING SARCASTIC EARLIER I WAS NOT. I SHOULD TAKE HER TO ANOTHER VET. BUT IT DONT SOUND LIKE DIABETES TO ME
GOOD LUCK
