Guest Anonymous Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 Can you tell me what kinds of dog breeds are small, all black maltese looking dogs. I saw one last week and Loved! him. The breed must also be good with children. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 It could have been a Havanese. They are related to the Maltese. The do come in different colors. Height is 8-11 inches and weight is 7-12 lbs. Also related are the Bichon Frise, Bolognese, Coton and the Lowchen. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 3, 2002 Posted February 3, 2002 Yes, it may very well be a Havanese. They originate in Cuba and they are adorable but quite rare. We wanted one but they are hard to come by and you are put on a waiting list. Also, they cost between $1200 and $1800. We just bought a shih-tzu (not quite as expensive) and love her. You might consider a shih-tzu. Not an outdoor dog, though, and loves being on your lap and cuddled. Quote

I know of little kids who have snapped the leg of a small dog but tell me of just ONE small dog who has snapped the leg of a small child. Parents need to teach kids to respect all animals, large or small. This is important for children to do well with ANY animal. JMHO Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 it probably depends on both as to how a dog acts. breed does impact behavior, like bird dogs are attracted to game more than some other breeds, but more of it depends on the training a dog recieves, especially at a young age. Quote
