any other things i need to know about basset i didnt know stair thing.. 1.i brush hes teeth 2.trim hes nails 3.check for thorns and such 4.clean hes ears 5.bath/groom him

he fine ...he playing tug-a-war with hes rope toy ..he just kinda scared me earlyer ...

ok he was in chair beside me about 14 in off the ground and he try to jump into my lap and closedlined himself on arm rest.. after he fell he started whimmpering alot and limped around for min or so now he can walk alright on it but hes not runnig around like crazy ..i figured if there was break he'd yepping still and i gave him bone rubb down he didnt whimmper at all ..just kept eating on hes treat..i dont have money for a vet

see i try the yeeping like a puppy when he bits me he keeps on doing it thought...

i have been working on breaking raisin bitting habbit ..we play but when wants to bit me hard enough to break the skin .i put him in shower {i dont turn it on} but its the only room i have for time out..for 2 or 4 min..he learning but taking alot of work

i do just because hes legs are to short to get down the steps..

well as of 20 min ago i was asleep as a baby ..then bam my dog starts barking in his crate i know what it is. he needs to use restroom but i didnt make it in time. he did number one in the crate so first thing first i pick raisin up and take him outside in the rain he does hes business "or the rest of it at least" :roll: then i bring him into restroom where i keep hes crate only room i have got beside bedroom..i clean the floor and crate inside with soap and vinager{sp} from what i have read that removes pee smell trace..then i wipe down raisin the ground outside with rain took care of most of the cleaning him... is there anyway i could handle that better or diffrently ? ok first i didnt have anything in bottom of the crate should there be? from what i have read they say you should keep crate empty for first few months so not to distract the puppy.. i know i should walk him more or took away hes water/feeding bowl earlyer .. he walk over 8 block this evening witch in tx heat with no trees he was tired real quick so i carried him half way home..then drink a ton of waterthen tonight befor bed i took him out one more time witch was 4 hours ago.. EDIT:I JUST REALIZED I DID THIS IN HEALTH SO SORRY..

kool harness thx for link .. yeah i'm sure there no classes here theres only 1k people here and animal shelter where i first went to go look for a dog is ran by one guy who does it for free..i had to get a ride 278 mile away to find raisin and thats after hes breeder went a quater of distance..

yeah thats one thing i read about hound dog is they falloe there noises ...i still feel bad when runs chase something like grasshopper and clothes lines himself..since my first dog i'm just make sure ...we dont have obedience classes in this town...i'm 28 and i don't live at home i live 2 house over its kinda strange and my block is part of historic district so i cant put up a fence :cry: i was loking up a harness befor i read this.. :)

well to answer the bitting thing yes we are playing sometimes but from what i read it says you shouldn't use your hands directly to play with a puppy...for whole bitting thing like my toes i was thinking of getting some bad tasting spray they sale . on another note i haven't try any of bad methods idol stuff that has come alone ..the method you are speaking of i'm doing .. now for whole dad thing i have to disagree my father is retired military so yeah some of he's child rasing skills where rough but he he had 7 of use to deal with and i'm he's only real son ..i think parents today are to damn soft ,i'm sick & tired of whinny kids you talk shit to parents because parents dont beleave in punishment...kids are to damn spoiled today ../end of rant on that ...thx for advice :D

well ,see where i live when i take my dog out to do his :o dirty business :o he wants to run into my next door Neighbor yard ..this can not be aloud my Neighbor has already said if see the dog in his yards its as good as dead .so i go out with him everytime on leash my dog" i figure because he's young" wants to pull against the leash...to the point wheres on 2 legs ..or will be walking and he'll start running a clothes line him self ...he never whimmers in pain ..but sometime he barks ... is this ok i figure from the i have seen other dogs act this pretty normal in bad/young dogs ..i just don't want him to hurt himself and when i'm walking him he want to run or walk but he likes to stop in middle of cross walk and smell around i cant get him to move unless i drag him "afraid of hurting him"..so i pick him up..

hey look at it this way at least i'm asking befor doing...thats one of main reason i joined the forum for everyones input
