I don't know the absolute best things to tell you but I would not change his diet at all. I would let him have ample oppurtunity everyday to eat the same thing he always has and the same amount. I f he doesn't eat as much each day thats okay for the time being as long as you can continue to get some of his regular food in him. Dogs have to go through the mourning process just like we do so I would think it best not to hurry him. In the meantime do you know anyone with a dog that he may get along with?? I f you do you could always arrange several playgroups to help get things off his mind. Or you could always adopt him a companion that gets along well. Soo very sorry for the loss to you and Dusty.

I have some pretty cute nicknames for my pups. My Cocker (Lucky) is also known as 'Buttercup' (as in 'What's up Buttercup?') Recently I have started calling him 'Muppethead' as well !! My Pit Terrier (Phoenix) is also known as 'Big Gaa-Woot' and 'Wigglebutt'. My Chihuahua (Salvador) is known as 'Little Guy Small Fry' and 'Little Fang' (bottom teeth stick out from underbite).

I would definitely take him to the vet!! One time we had a dog at the shelter that had a similar problem with the pads of his feet. The vet told us in that paticular case that it could not be sewn up. The vet did give us these wierd drops to put on the foot several times a day to help speed the healing process. I can't remember what the drops were called but they were a brown color and it really helped with the healing- we had to keep the feet really clean in between drops. Hope all goes well with your poor little pooch!!! :(

Here is a description from a dog breed book. Ears set high, can be cropped or uncropped, uncropped ears should be a half rose or prick Head is broad, pronounced cheek muscles, has distinct stop. Back is fairly short, sloping slightly to rear. Tail short but not docked (to me their tails look kinda like a water pump handle) Forelegs set wide, straight Color: any solid or partial color, but more than 80% white, black and tan, or liver are less preferred. (most of the Pit Terriers I've seen have white markings on mainly their legs/feet, chest/neck, and face.) They also have a springy gait, most are agile and stocky. They have a very short coat and almost almond shaped eyes. Their eyes are fairly small in size and some Pits even have green or gold eyes. Most Pit Terriers have a few wrinkles on their forehead area esp. when their ears are up 'in attention'. Hope this helps somewhat. :P
