One of my clients office/home burnt to the ground yesterday and they lost their pets. :( This prompted me to thinking of my own animals safety. Does anyone know where I can print something off or get a window cling or anything alerting firefighters to the fact that I have animals that would need to be saved in the case of a fire if I was not home? Thank you. Now I am off to get sympathy cards.

Funny you mention Lymes. I do live in WI, and we do plan on taking him to the lake with us every weekend. I think I have to be safe and get him the lymes. Anything I should watch for after he gets the vac.? Thanks again for all the advice!

Sorry I am posting so late, I was out of town for a few days for work. Hemi did get a combination of shots, one being rabies, and bordetella. I am not sure what the third was? I will be very careful when getting shots for him from now on. According to the vet he only needs one more actual shot other than being heartwormed, and Lymes. Hemi is doing great now.

Hemi is 11 weeks now and 35 pounds so we went to the vet for his next round of puppy shots yestrday at 5:30. At 9:45 last night he had the worst alergic reaction I have ever seen! Hemi's eyes were completly swollen shut, they were the size of golf balls! And his lips were a 1/2 an inch thick! After crying and waiting 15 minutes for the vet to call me back, we gave him some Benedril (sp) and he finally went to sleep and quit trying to take his own eyes out! I did not sleep at all least night I was afraid he would stop breathing, it is a good thing he is a snore monster, at least I knew he was breathing! I will not be going home from the next set of shots without meds to prevent this from happening again. I was so scared! Has anyone seen this before? I felt so helpless! I just had to share in the hopes it would make ME feel better about what happened! Thanks for listening. I have pictures I will post them under pictures as soon as I figure out how?

This is so sad, I have sent PetMate a nasty little email :evil: ! It is so sad that people do not realize that animals are so important. How often do you see safty recalls on childres products or equiptment? This should be no differnet IMHO.

I have no idea what happened to the mother, if she stayed or not? I was just asked if we could take one of the puppies? We also have an 11lb Mini Dauchsund who is 2 named Nine, (my son named him K-9) so Hemi has started to socialize with him and our cat Ozzy. I have already signed him up for Obed. classes, he starts on April 6th. I know with a dog this size he will need to be trained very well. We plan on taking him through puppy school and then on to beginner and advanced classes, my opinion is there is no such thing as being trained to well correct?

K, It was a rescue situation, the people who had the Great Dane mother, did not want nor take care of the puppies. Due to lack of supervision the neighbors Rot is the father. The puppies needed to go and a friend who knew of the situation contacted me to see if I could take one of them. (We just bought a big new house) I agreed, and now I have no clue what we did without him! As soon as we got him we made the vet appointment, had him wormed and started his shots. Thank you for responding to my questions. Any other words of advise for me?

Our new puppy Hemi was at the vet Tuesday and they discovered he has Hookworms :cry: . He is being treated now. My question is would it be ok to treat my other dog and cat with an OTC drug just to be safe. Hemi was with us for 9 days before the vet appointment. Also what about my children? I have 2 boys 7 & 10 who love Hemi so much and let Hemi kiss and hold him as much as possible. We have told the children to wash wash wash, but prior to Tuesday we never expected worms and let the kids play away with there new puppy. Any suggestions? I just want to avoid any more sick animals, or children! TIA What a blessing to find this site! P.S Hemi is our new Dane/Rot baby. We love him with our whole heart! What did we do before he came along? Hemi is 8 week 3 days and 22lbs!
