I think it sounds like fun! I especially like the eye idea -- I just love dog eyes. Would members with multiple dogs be able to enter each of their dogs if they wanted to? If this idea doesn't work on dogo, I just joined the petoftheday message board. Maybe I could participate there? Or... lurk... out of shyness.
how many dogs do you have now? do they all get along? just curious :)
I have three dogs (the other two are 6 month old rottweilers.) They get along very well as long as no one wakes up Adina. She's not much of a morning person. She snapped at Oz once when he chewed on her while she was sleeping, but aside from that she is very gentle and babies him. :D Bane is a little jealous. If Oz is sleeping next to me he will come lay down on top of me and slide down until he has wedged himself in between Oz and me. :P Rowie, I have a (crappy) website up for my dogs, now. http://www.freewebs.com/dubm/ Maybe the pictures of him there would show up for you?
So how many years of whining exactly????
Let's see.. I moved in with my dad almost five years ago... and I didn't shut up until Friday when I picked up my puppy.

I call my dogs all sorts of strange things when I'm talking to them. Some of Bane's nicknames are: Bobo, Bubba, Fancy Man, Monster Man, Big Ol' Baby, Ghandi, Momma's Boy... And Adina's are: Addy, Addy Bear, Bitch, Psycho, Spinny-hop, Butt Ruffles... Oswald doesn't really have a nickname besides "Oz" right now, because we've only had him for a few days. I didn't really realize how funny these sounded until, now. And maybe requiring some kind of explanation...

I have wanted a Great Dane since... well, since I knew what one was. :p But, my dad had always been against the idea because of their short life spans. After years of whining with less than effective arguments I finally have my Dane! :D He's a seven week old, blue merle. My dad likes the name Oswald for him -- and since he is nice enough to let us live here, I think that's a fine name, too. I wasn't going to bother the forum about him, but I'm so excited I just couldn't keep it to myself. (If anyone was wondering about that tri-colored fluff ball I brought home last month, we had to return him. He kept attacking my rotts. At one point I had to peel him and Adina off of eachother with a big stick -- I seriously thought she was going to kill him. After I got her off of him, he went right back at her again. :o )

When I feed my dogs, I soak they're food in water first (so, it won't puff up inside them and other things I'm paranoid about.) While their food is on the counter, they all wait impatiently outside the kitchen while I busy myself with other things. When they see me coming back towards the kitchen they do all kinds of cute spins, hops, and play bows. I was just "making" their breakfast, and when I went back into the kitchen Bane and Adina both stomped their front feet on the ground at the same time and came charging at me. It was so cute! But, honestly, if they weren't my dogs I think I would have wet my pants. :o

I get that, too... Now that my rotts are a little older, I don't get as many people who swarm me asking how much I'm selling them for everytime I take them out for walks. But, almost anyone who finds out they aren't from the same litter says, "Oh, so you're going to breed them." No! One man had the audacity to call me a liar when I said I wouldn't. :o  I mean, do I LOOK like an opportunistic, money hungry, dog exploiting jack***? (Wait, don't answer that. :P)

When I was 11 or so, our family had this black lab. Once I was out in the yard with her, and she was poking around in some wood. I heard this terrible squeaking, so I went to check it out. She had found a nest of baby bunnies ... AND SHE WAS LICKING THEM! She seemed so pleased with herself to have found these little baby animals to kiss on. :o She always did love babies - at one time we had some ducklings that would follow her around.

He isn't from a shelter - he's just a poor, unwanted puppy that got passed around until he made it to me. From what I understand, the people who owned his parents gave him to this woman, the woman later decided she didn't want him and took him back, they didn't want to keep him so they gave him to this man they knew who often took in strays. And that man didn't have enough room for the puppy so he gave him to me. Okay, I hope that made sense. :o That man supposedly knew this pup's parents, but I'll agree that that wouldn't be the mix that I would have thought he was either. Oh, I don't care what he is - he's a sweetheart and I love him. :D

He's an 8 week old Saint Bernard/Great Pyrenees cross. Gahhhhhh, he's so cute! Just a big ol' tri colored poofball! And I believe his feet are every bit as big as my four and half month old rotties'. I got him last night, and he has adjusted so well. He hasn't even had an accident in the house-yet. Bane and Adina just love him and they are all getting along. Three puppies at once -- am I crazy?

What Some People Will Do For Money...

I really hope the people who are stupid enough to fall for that still have enough sense left to provide a decent home for these poor pups. Look at those sweet little faces. :( Poor dears. That really is ridiculous. I paid that for both of my Rottweilers. I guess that's because they aren't Rare murmur murmur thingy-hounds. :P -
Miracle Pets! I love that show! But, I cry during almost every episode.
height at wither and weight please!
I would know this because I always visit my family equipped to measure their animals. Actually... I probably should. :P Only guessing, I would say 20 inches at the withers and about 35 pounds. I thought she looked kind of Westie-ish, too. A big, funky-spotted Westie.

I was visting my brother last weekend, and he has this rescued dog, Tally. I was curious to know what breed you might think she is. (The vet says airedale mix.) She's a medium sized, lemon and white, wire-hair.

My female dobe was about 60-70 pounds at a year old. I'm sorry that I don't remember the exact weight. :-?

Bane and Adina have these two rubber bone toys (and, yes, they still fight over the same one. :P) Anyway, Adina and I were just playing fetch with one of them, while Bane was laying down chewing on a football. At one point, I threw both rubber bones, to see what Adina would do. She ran after them, stopped, looked at each one... ...then went over to Bane, stole his football, brought it to me and dropped it at my feet!

Schatzie would have turned four, today, had she not been hit by a truck and killed back in October. I still can't describe her... or how much she meant to me. She was the greatest dog I have ever known. I am still so upset over her death that I can't even write this memorial... http://community.webshots.com/album/64248514ceHAjv

I'd have to agree. Dobes are wonderful dogs. My favorite, actually. I'd have them currently, but since I lost mine this last fall, my eyes tear up every time I see one.

My two three month old rottweiler puppies recently contracted intestinal infections (one right after the other) and today I was able to bring home my male, Bane. There was only one assistant in the office at the time and when she brought him out she said, "They're aggressive for puppies - both of them." I inquired as to what she meant by this, and she kind of mumbled and all I really got out of it was that Bane had "made a face like he was going to bite" when she went to put his collar on. They've always been very friendly and sweet with people I've seen them around, and I really wish this woman would have been more cooperative in explaining what happened. Is it possible that he was just afraid of her because he'd been stuck with needles (etc.) in that place? Or is this something i should be worried about? They are both due back on Monday to check their progress and that will be my chance to talk to the vet. If they are as "aggressive" as she seems to think (for a reason, I hope?) is there something I can do about it? The last thing i want is to lose one of my precious dogs because they bit someone. Anyway, both of my babies are home, now, and feeling good. :D

A favorite of my father's when people ask if our dogs bite: "By golly, she might. She's got a whole mouth full of teeth!"

I used to have a doberman - absolute sweetheart - that would get all kinds of weird reactions out of people. I found it amusing when they would just go around me. But, you'd be surprised how many people would walk up to her, start petting her, and THEN ask me, "Does it bite?" And then they don't see the humor when i reply, "Do you think you'd still have hands if she did?" The worst reaction I ever had was when a friend and i had her at some kind of carnival (on a short leash, and she was heeling perfectly beside me) and a man and his young daughter passed us going the other direction. He yanked his daughter to the other side of him and started SCREAMING at me, "You better get that dog away before he bites my baby's face off! I will choke him - I'll choke him to death!" At the time I was too horrifed to say anything back to him, and i'm still kind of bewildered now. :o I can't wait to see what kind of morons I will enounter when my rotts are full grown. Wait.. yes, I can.
