Hi to all of you! So, it´s time for an update. Luke is in very good shape. It´s been half a year, now and then I don´t trust my own eyes. Luke is able to stand on three legs w/o his wheelchair. However, he is not able to walk more than a few meters, but there is enough energy now, that he can move easily over some stairs all by himself. I can provide some photos:

[quote name='Panca']I found a story about a paralysed dog-maybe this one could go to Germany? http://www.dogomania.pl/forum/f28/lolus-ma-zlamany-kregoslup-zbieramy-na-wozek-rehabilitacje-pilnie-dt-132968/ I spoke to the lady. She said, that she would love to adopt this dog. She has no car and no driving license, so we have a problem to get this dog here.

GREAT NEWS! A few days ago I talked to a young woman about Luke. She decided to give another handicaped dog a chance. If possible she is looking for a female dog, because she already have a male dog. But it is okay, if he is male, as long as the new fellow will accept the existing dog (which is quite a lovely boy, has no problems with other dogs an even likes our Lola, the little black one). So, the really good thing is: she has a big house at the beach, she takes care about 18 other animal: she runs a little privat animal shelter. she is also willing to buy a wheelchair for tis lucky dog. This lucky dog can also walk at the beach along with some horses! A dream can come true for a poor dog! If any paraplegic dog needs a good home, here you go. :multi::multi::multi::multi:

Hi! It´s time for a little update: Luke started his second season at our therapist last week. She is very happy with his porgress. He is now able to "feel" almost everything on his back and his legs including his tail. :multi: It looks like we have a good chance, that he can walk with three legs in the near future. Anyway, the downside is, that in order to give him more freedom we have to cut off his "dead" leg. This leg is so seriously damaged, there is absolutely no hope of getting it fixed. It is about 6cm smaller than the other one. The problem is, that this leg limits his walking skills. With a towel around his back we now take him with us to visit friends. He really likes the litle black fellow here::iloveyou: http://pannenfahrzeug.de/Luke_and_Chia.JPG http://pannenfahrzeug.de/Luke_and_Chia2.JPG Many greetings! PS: Don´t worry, the duct tape is only around the towel, not his dog fur.

[quote name='NicolaDE']Hi Herrfeinbein, I'm Nicola from Dortmund I was a member of the trip with Luke Bernstein. How is the new wheelchair of Luke Bernstein? Hi Nicola. Thank you for giving Luke a chance! Due to low battery I was able to take one photo only, more will follow as soon as I find the docking station .... The new doggy car is much more stable, fits him almost perfectly, it has a much, much more comfortable seat. Best of all: he can now drop his poo inside the car, which means overall better handling and more freedom for Luke. It has a better carrying-straps, too. It is smaller also, so he wouldn´t get stuck with the wheels anymore, it is about 15cm smaller in width. He really likes it. Also he is faster and even more secure with the new one. I am planning to do some new videos tommorow. See you soon! Lukes new doggy-car Lutz

I didn´t recognized that until I saw the video ins slow motion that he jumps. I was suprised to see him jumping, because without his doggy-car he will not lift one and even more less possible two legs from the ground. That shows, how much he trusts his wheel-chair. By the way, his won one will be finished on monday. I can´t wait seeing him in his own doggy-car.... What does that mean: Moje Kochanie :placz: znowu się wzruszyłam.......dziękuję?

[quote name='sleepingbyday']it's a very fast progress :crazyeye:. couldn't be better... who is the little black fellow in the middle? This is Chia, we sometimes call her "Lola Lästig" (=Annoying Lola), she is some kind of hyperactive, she lives with us. You might have noticed her here sleeping on the chair. It´s the same dog as in this video: YouTube - Luke Bernstein und Co :-) She is really keen on Luke :loveu: By the way, this film ends so abrupt, because he starts to pee in the end ... and everybody around started to run anway

Hello to all! Some never seen before pictures from Luke and friends: ;) http://pannenfahrzeug.de/SNB12073.JPG http://pannenfahrzeug.de/SNB12096.JPG http://pannenfahrzeug.de/SNB12128.JPG http://pannenfahrzeug.de/SNB12146.JPG Enjoy! A word concerning his recovery process: His ability to bend and stretch his left leg was < 20 degrees. Today it is >60 degrees!! That means 40 degrees more! As I said, the right leg is fully functinonal, but at the moment it is not possible for him to stand upright due to missing muscles in his back. We give him a cocktail of vitamins and stuff. And this week our physiotherapist is training him to rebuild his muscles. He does very well in the past, we all are more than satisfied with his progress. And even if he can´t walk like other dogs, he seems to be the happiest of our three bandits although.

Let´s just say, it isn´t me, it´s the dog. He is so great! He brings joy to my life! I have to admit, sometimes it´s hard, because I have to carry him downstairs twice a night so that he could make a pee and poop, you know? But then again: one look in his eyes is worth it! :loveu::loveu::loveu: I really enjoy beeing a part of Luke´s life, he is so thankfull, I really admire this dog. He is so strong an yet so emotional. Luke an I are looking forward to show you his new hand crafted wheelchair, soon! Let me show you some pics of Luke´s special treatment: http://pannenfahrzeug.de/Foto0006.jpg http://pannenfahrzeug.de/Foto0011.jpg and look at this one, too, very relaxing Luke :-) http://pannenfahrzeug.de/Foto0015.jpg

Hi from Germany. I am the new owner of Bursztynek, we call him now "Luke". I am sorry, I don´t speak your language, only english and german (of course). Just came by to give you the latest news: Luke (Bursztynek) is a very lovely dog, twice a week he gets special treatment for his muscles and bones structure. Within the next days I hope to receive his own wheelchair which is much more stable and fits him perfectly, so it will make it much more easier for him. I have good news: Luke is able to use his right leg. It is fully functional and there is a good chance, that he will become strong enough to walk short distances with three legs, step by step. Feel free to ask questions, maybe there is sombody around who is willing to translate my messages. I will provide more videos on youtube, soon. I can send some pictures of Luke and his new dog-buddies. He fits in well here at our place. He can use the garden now, we just finished a ramp from our house down to the garden. He enjoys the snow and his massages, and he likes to eat a lot :-) and he loves his wheelchair. When I come near this wheelchair he starts to freak out, he will walk for one hour or more without getting tired! But best off all: he doesn´t care that he can´t walk without his chair. He is always very friendly and smiles, really, he is everbody´s darling! Greetings from Neustadt, Germany! Lutz
